Can't play network games, cd key is invalid

You may have touched your CD key in the network play window and modified it, you should never do that.

Follow these instructions, with Steam closed (and obviously the game itself):

That worked. So, for others, I:

Quit steam

went into steam properties and made it run as admin
Went into regedit > local machine >software>wow6432Node>GSC Game World> STALKER-SHOC and deleted the cdkey entry
started steam
booted up STALKER and then immediatly quit, not looking at the network settings
went back into regedit and the cdkey that was there now worked just fine.
