If it doesn't work on Windows 7 x64 because of an engine error (mine was tf_getinputscope), remember to set compatibility mode to XP SP3. Will work fine after.

Worked fine for me first time on Windows 7 x64.
One thing I remember from back in the day was to launch the game, then alt+tab out and in the task manager go to processes and find XR_3DA.exe and right click it and set the affinity to core 0 ONLY, then immediately set it back to all cpu cores. This spreads out the cpu usage between multiple cores.
In practice it still works this way, but on my 8 core 8350 it doesnt seem to make a difference. Although I remember when my Intel Centrino 1.6ghz dual core really benefited from this.

I've never played Stalker. Would this be a good way to get into the game without playing the Vanilla version? I see that it's free, which is a plus.

Well it's free stalker goodness so yes you need to play it. I dont have time myself yet so I cant download it in case I get addicted to it but i think ill try it 1st may.

Well, i've played a little bit of it, and to me, it's like a full game, and Shadow of Chernobyl was only alpha version :P
not sure if i will ever play SoCh again, when we have this.

Works fine on Win7 64bit. But MAKE SURE TO DISABLE "BODY"! If you don't do in you can't hear your footsteps and it's gonna make your game crash.

Dammit it makes a ctd everytime i try to start a new game. I figured out it has something to do with changing controls but anyone has any idea what controls particularly?

when installing this do you put all four parts into one file or into seperate files? like stalker alpha part 1 , 2 ,3 ,4 etc? because if you put them all in one it says to replace things

put all into one folder and replace all things, it all works out in the end.

It's standalone, you don't need to replace anything.
