Stalker and Windows 10 [SOLVED]
Hello. I´ve recently upgraded to Windows 10 and reget it ever since. If only I could downgrade again ... .
I can´t even launch Stalker SoC. I don´t receive any error messages.
I press "play" and two small windows pop up, one of which being a picture of Stalker SoC and the other one is just something loading in the background.
I see that famous circle next to my mouse pointer indicating that something is loading, but nothing happens.
A look at the task manager shows that Stalker SoC isn´t running in the background.

What shall I do?

EDIT: My solution / fix.
Go to Steam/SteamAppc/common/Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl/bin and right click on XR_3DA, select properties and go to compatibility. Then uncheck "Run this program in compatibility mode for".
The game runs in Windows 10 natively.

Well, you could explain what you´ve done to make it run on Windows 10, you know.

ok got all 3 working now started a new game on soc loaded old save on clear sky and cop and it worked then started new game on clear sky, i had to sign out of win10 when game froze with black screen and then they all worked but i did get all 3 to load successfully under win10 i just had issues trying start game or load save. but i just upgraded to win 10 from win7 64 bit and so far all games have worked fine, but i did have all drivers updated before upgrade

The same happened to me with Morrowind.
Turns out, it's the missing Direct X, that's required for the game to run. It sucks that we don't get any messages about these errors.
You can download DirectX from here:

Hope this helps.

Installed to no avail ... . Thanks for trying to help.
"DX installer has determined that an equivalent or newer version has been installed." or something like that.

Try something else: launch the game from game's executable, not through Steam. See if any error pops up.
Look for XR_3DA.exe in ../bin folder.

No error message either. I know this may sound crazy to some, but if I won´t find a fix by the end of next week, I will re-install Windows 8.1 as any of my games have worked JUST FINE. The only advantage of Windows 10 is higher framerates in those games which do run on Windows 10. Tried a second time. "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notiy you if a solution is available." No solution has been given. No notification.

Last EDIT: Okay I´ve fixed it. It appears that you have to uncheck the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" option as a whole and the game will launch normally in Windows 10.
Go to Steam/SteamAppc/common/Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl/bin and right click on XR_3DA, select properties and go to compatibility. Then uncheck "Run this program in compatibility mode for".
Also, I´ve read to uncheck the option in Steam for ingame-overlay. However, for me turning off the compatibility mode has fixed it. :D

so i can get an old save game to load and get pretty far if i go back wards but as soon as i progress i crashes
