Is There a Caliber Multiplier in SoC?
I've read somewhere else that in Call of Pripyat the rounds you use are more important than the guns themselves, and that two guns of equal damage output but of different caliber will have different overall damage due to the ammunition they use.

This could also apply in a situation where a gun with a higher damage rating yields lower damage than a gun that's rated for lower damage because the caliber of one is inferior to the other.

For example, the Tunder 5.45 and the Tunder S14 are both identical guns, but since the Tunder 5.45 uses 5.45x39mm rounds and the Tunder S14 uses 9x39mm PAB-9 rounds, the S14 should pack the heavier punch.

Does anybody have any insight on this?

I just did a test with the Tunder 5.45 and a Tunder S14 and controlled for accuracy and damage by using single shot, fully squatting at point blank range, aiming only for head shots and having both guns repaired to account for weapon conditions at the Army Warehouse. Results were inconclusive.

Various ammo has various characteristics, but they aren't as significant as it might seem.
Here are ShoC ammo stats, taken from the game files:
  • 9x18: x1 damage, x1 distance, x3 bullet spread, 1 penetration (only for obstacles, actual armor penetration was only introduced in Clear Sky).
  • 9x19 +P+: x1.1 damage, x1.5 distance, x3 bullet spread, 1.1 penetration.
  • 9x19: x1 damage, x1 distance, x3 bullet spread, 1 penetration.
  • 9x19 PBP: x1.1 damage, x1 distance, x3 bullet spread, 1.35 penetration.
  • .45 ACP: x1 damage, x1 distance, x3 bullet spread, 1 penetration.
  • .45 ACP Hydroshock: x1.1 damage, x0.95 distance, x3 bullet spread, 1.35 penetration.
  • 12x70 Buck: x0.4 damage, x0.75 distance, x10 bullet spread, 0.8 penetration, 10 projectiles.
  • 12x76 Slug: x1 damage, x1.5 distance, x1 bullet spread, 1 penetration.
  • 12x76 Dart: x1.15 damage, x2.5 distance, x0.8 bullet spread, 2.25 penetration.

In Call of Pripyat 5.45x39, 5.56x45, 9x39 ammo and their AP variants have differenr armor penetration stat, but from my testing in vanilla CoP they don't seem to do much.

It's in gamedata\config\weapons\weapons.ltx. But you must extract gamedata files first.

I see, are there stats available for gun recoil too? Would be pretty useful to know.
