If you don't want to play the others 2 for now at least watch or read about them history. Just to bring more knowledge about the Zone and the first game.
There's 2 goofy things about this game that I've spotted so far:
1. No FOV adjustment.
2. The game music comes from a certain direction in space.
3. Not sure if there's a way to increase your backpack capacity? I found bigger armor vests, but they don't seem to change my carry capacity.
4. No option to bind mousewheel scrolling to weapon prev/next, or to invert scope zoom in/out.
The only other game like this I've played is Fargone, which is really fun and wide-open, with zombies in the mix. Contains 4 factions that you can join or be enemies with, just like in Stalker, but at a much more simplified, approachable level.
Side note: Energy drinks and electrical anomalies can boost your stamina so you can sprint more.
Are you sure, that you've heard the marvelous MooZe's soundtrack? It is ambient and sounds just in your hypophysis. Not so for guitar music, that comes from player.
Mousewheel scrolling is bound by default to weapon prev/next
Cant invert scope zoom in/out, indeed. But there're no such a scopes in vanilla )))) Binoculars only
Good hunting, stalker!
But read my guide first (first steps to the Zone) in order not to be disappointed
I can not say you'll lose the part of the story itself. It's more like, you'll miss some story and character context. That won't be a problem for enjoying S2, but for better immersion, I suggest completing all 3 games.
