Are there issues with starter pack?
Basically the title. I didn't want to ruin the vanilla experience but wanted it to look better. Problem is, things flat out do not load in. At all. I've had to autosave so many times and reload for THE CHANCE for things to actually load correctly. And I cannot for the life of me understand why when the whole idea of this was to FIX things like this. It's my first time playing STALKER and this is the most broken game I have ever played. If it's the mod then I'll do a fresh install. If not, then how was it stuck in this state for so long and how could it get so much praise? None of this makes sense. I love how tense this game is but it is quite literally broken for me.

It's the mod (which btw, there are many "starter pack" mods), the base game works mostly well. Either you are using it in an already existing save and it doesn't work with existing saves, or you installed it wrong.
If you want to go back to vanilla, delete every folder from the mod and just in cade verify files (or delete everything and verify files)

Okay done. Yeah I tested it and the pack absolutely was breaking the game. It already feels a little better on true vanilla apart from gun sounds and the obnoxious kick of the starter pistol. Are there any stable packs/mods that work in 2024? I was using the 2019 re-upload for the starter pack to be specific. I'm not looking to change the experience like I mentioned before. Only an enhanced vanilla

Many, you can go to the moddb page and search for stuff that you want, as some modify more than you may expect. You'll also have to check if the mods/addons you install are compatible with each other.

alot of mods have clickbait names. its almost like somepeople would be better of not knowing mods existed so they can just play the game. the very concept of a mod make it not vanilla, really should just play vanilla if your not gona research a mod or read what its about in its description just seems like a fast track to mad town.

The game is dated and I'm just looking to improve QoL, enhance performance and enhance graphics. I don't want a full overhaul. Just an improved experience. What's maddening are people like you who feel the need to judge how others have fun. I just so happened to find one that isn't compatible anymore and broke the game without realizing it until a few hours in. If you'd like to help, please recommend some enhancement mods/packs. Otherwise you're wasting both our time.

If you don't want to ruin the vanilla experience then just play vanilla. Game runs fine out of the box

only vanilla plus mod is a mod called zrp. but it doesnt make it look much nicer. it also makes some changes outside of bugs. you can use reshade id say to make it nicer.

every mod makes some odd changes even skyrim unoffical patch makes some odd changes. only vanilla is vanilla bro. you either look and see what mods you like and dont and see your options are or just eat it vanilla bro

I may do that. But I'm trying enhancement mods first. I did the same with SH2 and couldn't imagine playing it without it. It improved everything. I also keep reading that SoC has a lot of bugs so I'm trying to prevent problems.

ZRP, if you change setting to default in the modifier.exe, only fixes bugs. It's not very mod friendly, but it's pretty much vanilla with bug fixes
