S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

Stalker SoC load last game/ save game not working/ deleted.
So I literally just bought Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl yesterday and was really hyped for it. Game crashed the first time through, but it wasn't updated, so that's self explanatory. So I was about 2-3 hours in and I loaded the game up this morning and my files were deleted and so I made a new game. This one didn't save either. The icon for saving shows up and everything, but the files have nothing. Any help or links are much appreciated. Also to mention I'm running version 1000.6 or whatever on windows 10.

ensure the folder your steam games are installed to is not set to read only, a fairly common problem on windows8 and 10, especially for the program files folder.

So how exactly do I fix this? I'm still new around fixing things like this, this is my alternate account.
He probably told you to click with right mouse button, pick properties,in general section, you will uncheck the followed attribute Read-only.

same issue, tried fix, not working.
help please
Haven't been able to try that fix yet, cause holidays and I'm out of town. So I was reading a different thread and apparently if it's saved to a C: folder everyone has access to it, but how do I move folders so I can save my games? Btw for those who didn't read. I was able to save games 2 days ago and those saves were still there. Then later when I came back my PC turned off by then with no movement or anything and when I logged back in my files were missing and didn't save.

I've had both the problems with the save files and the black screen issue. The fix that has worked for me is to create another folder somewhere and call it STALKER-SHOC. Now note where that file is (for me it was F:\STALKER-SHOC). Now go into the folder that had Stalker on it and find the file called fsgame (fsgame.ltx if you have all the details). Open it with notepad and change the top line in it so that it looks for the folder that you have created (for me it was $app_data_root$=true|false|F:\STALKER-SHOC\). That is what worked for me.
So do I make a new folder or what? I've never ran into this type of problem before and don't exactly know how to handle it. Is it a copy and past type of situation into a new folder?

I just made a new folder. I wasn't too far into the game so I started again. You could try a copy & paste and direct it to there. What do you have to lose?
Deleting local content didn't work. Can anyone give me a precise step by step on how to fix this? I found the stalker folder within my C: drive and I don't know what to do with it. For as much as I love the game I didn't plan on having this much upset and frustration over it all.
In other words, how exactly do you make a new folder for this game. I'm running it under my user, but needed the administrators password (parent) to download it. So I need to create a new folder for my STALKER-SHOC, but I do not know how to do any of this? Any help?

Open your stalker folder on C: drive. You should see a file called fsgame. Open that file up with notepad and you will see on the top line $app_data_root$=true|false|" a file location on your PC ". Basically you just make a new folder and call it STALKER-SHOC outside of the stalker folder and then change " a file location on your PC " to the place where you just made the STALKER-SHOC folder. I made mine on the root of my secondary HDD so mine was changed to F:\STALKER-SHOC.
