Am I reeaally supposed to buy the exoskeleton? (base game)
Or am I about to find out there's one just sitting right there in Pripyat the moment I walk in?

Exo gives you extra weight possibility, good (not exellent) bullet and mutant protection, but quite poor radiation and other elemental protection. And you cant run. There are some other suits, that have good radiation and anomaly protection, but they lack bullet and rupture protection. All that could be balanced with artifacts and/or lots of drugs. Hard choice ))))
And there is some possibility to find unique exosuit.

You can find it as loot here and there but it's towards the end. I wouldn't buy it since you can't run in it, making it pretty much useless.

To be honest. i always buy it

Dear god, I would never buy something that prevents sprinting

its good, but its not the be all end all. I dont always get it. SEVA is the other option

Yeah I was considering the SEVA instead, thanks everyone.

I prefer going nude while being covered in poo. You blend in well at night time and if anyone sees you no one will go near you. It's a full proof plan.

That's for after STALKing though

I assume that you have already made up your mind about using the SEVA, and true, the exoskeleton disables your ability to run however the exo's bulletcap is it's best feature. Even the best monolith cannot stop you as the exo can take up an entire clip from the Vintar BC even on Master difficulty! The only things that can kill you in an exo is prolonged fire by multiple monolithians, and explosions, specifically from RPGs and Helicopters.
And it's increased carrying capacity makes it easier since you can carry more ammo and medkits.
Therefore, the exoskeleton is worth considering.

All this SEVA talk, why's no one saying anything about Skat? It's basically a better exoskeleton.

Yeah my ass is pretty sore after putting on this 9 kg suit with no carrying capacity increase, we'll see.

You still carry salamis that far into the game?

Proverbial salamis, between my G37 and Vintar and all the ammo I carry for them, the ~10 first aid kits and my artifacts and now the SEVA suit I'm already at about 47/50 kg

And I have 2 salamis and 3 MREs
