Anomaly is a standalone combination of all three games with the main story removed and turned into a giant sandbox. Gamma is a modlist for Anomaly that changes Anomaly in certain ways, listed on the mod page.

Call of Pripyat is not needed to play either, neither should be installed to COP, and the two have almost nothing common besides the map that Anomaly uses in part for it's connected game world.

None. Play Shadow of Chernobyl or one of its story mods

You're in the SoC discussions so expect bias for vanilla, and for good reason. Call of Pripyat is not needed for both, as one is a standalone (Anomaly) & the other is a mod for the standalone (Gamma). Bear in mind they're both huge downloads.

Anomaly is if you're looking for more of a sandbox-like experience, adding any mods you want. Gamma is more linear and punishing from the getgo (though you can do that with Anomaly, hence sandbox). I prefer Gamma, as I like new things.

Also there are honestly better mods out there, just because these 2 are the 'flavor of the month' and receiving wide attention does not mean they should be first on your list to try. Don't be a sheep and jump on the bandwagon just because you 'heard' of it.
