DirectPlay: Do I actually need it?

Hello, I'm wondering if I truly need DirectPlay? I downloaded it since Google told me it was safe enough but I'm wondering if I actually need it and if it'll screw over me (windows 10). Thanks.

Directplay is safe so long as you're not downloading it off some third party site. The one that comes with the installer is perfectly fine.

Not really, you should get dxvk-glapsync instead it doubled my framerate from 111fps to 208 fps. Just make sure to install 32bit version.

Alright, that's good to know. I just remember reading that apparently someone got stuck in a boot loop from downloading it and I got worried. Thanks!

Windows 10 has a built-in installer for DirectPlay.

Always use it or maybe installers from microsoft.com instead of unknown installers from the internet! ;)

Answering the question whether DirectPlay is needed at all – it is only needed for multiplayer. As long as you only play singleplayer, you won't need it.

you should use 1.0008 bin files because they are awesome and such etc etc etc.

i refuse to download needless software on an already bloated OS like win10... here have some usefulless software bins for SoC that make the game more stable.
