Need help installing the 1.0006 patch

Heyo. I know this is the discussions for the steam version, but there isn't exactly anywhere else I can go to ask this, outside of ask.com or some crap like that.

I recently got my hands on a copy of Shadow of Chernobyl from a pawn shop. Its an old retail copy, and the CD key is marked as invalid on steam so I can't just activate it there and skip most of my troubles.

I've been wanting to get a few mods for it, so i needed to update it to 1.0006 for one particular mod. I can update it to 1.0005 just fine. However, when I attempt to use the installer for 1.0006, it always greys out the option for Shadow of Chernobyl, claiming invalid version.

Can anyone give me a hand? Or maybe some information as to why this is happening. Did i somehow get a pirated copy or something that had the proper manual, cd code on back of manual, proper cd and art on said cd, and proper box?

I bet you tried to play with Autumn Aurora, yes.
It did work for me with newest version of stalker.
Try installing whatever mod you want, it should work.

Already tried that, gets CTD and crashes. I did a blank reinstall, and still unable to update to the version needed for Autumn Aurora.(1.0006).

Do a clean install then reverify the files. Steam should update it automatically. Be sure to delete any & all files you find for the game first though. Some might be corrupt.
