First Time Playing, Should I Go Vanilla or OGSE?

I just recently found out about this game and decided to purchase it and give it a shot. I found a mod that seems interesting and just mainly seems to fix bugs and balance issues. I am curious however wether people think it's best to plat the game vanilla first.

The mod in question is Old Good STALKER Evolution 0693, it doesn't seem like it would really change much in terms of the core gameplay but perhaps I'm mistaken.

Vanilla. I gotta say, tons of mods say that "they don't change a lot." That's usually total bs. But regarding your original question, I'd definitely recommend playing the game in its vanilla state first.

Thanks for the info, I was worried perhaps that was the case. It looks like I'll probably play through this once and decide whether or not I'd like to add it after; for another playthrough in the future.

Go Vanilla for your first time through it. It's better that way. Although, there are 7 different endings to this game. Which one will you end up with first? Or, second?

You guys seem to know a bit about mods, and nobody's really responding to my discussion, so I'll ask here. I recently installed AMK Autumn Edition for SHoC, and sometimes when I go into my PDA or a little bit, my screen goes black, my cursor freezes, and I get a movie before dying, and some PDA messages pop up in the bottom left corner (at least two), one from mostly duty or freedom, and the other from a weird character. They say something that I can't catch, but I see 'regards' in there, and their PDA picture is just a default background with no pereson, but russian text instead. Is this supposed to happen? If so, could someone please explain to me the purpose of it?

EDIT: Okay I just did it again, I'll post the three messages I got here.

The first one is from a russian text profile picture guy named Vova Zozo. "We need to acess the internet. The bar has, or Sidorovich trail?

second is from a guy with the same profile picture with russian text< says "Maurauders clamped, help out!

Third is from "Duty", says " For information on the raid on mutant and other operation, in a private channel> Not enough yet to leak was"

anyone can make any sense from these? sorry for going off topic, but it's pretty weird and I cant find anything on it on the internet.

Yeah, each ending reflects on how you play and what you do and/or, accumulate in the game. I would give out some spoilers but, it's best to find out on your own. If you do that then, you accomplish it yourself in order to expect the unexpected. ;)

Did you roll back to patch 1.0004?
Have you tried re-installing?
I'm actually about to start a playthrough of the same mod (as soon as I figure out how to limit my fps) so I can only point out obvious things. Hope this helps stalker. Also, did you read the logs in the app file?

I don't think it's an actual issue anymore, but it was just a strange thing because I wasn't used to it. I think it's supposed to be the character passing out, and the 'movie' was a dream, which may also explain why every time the movie ended, Marked One was extremely hungry.

What it is is, he's remembering things. He's not sure who he is and in those dreams, he's hearing a name and not for certain who it is yet. He was on the Deatrh Truck that crashed during some sort of anomoly that happened and lost his memory. Someone found him and took him to Cordon to the sandwich dude or, w/e his name is? I know it, just can't spell it.
