Mods for a first playthrough
Hi. What mods should i use for my first playthrough? Preferably i want mods that increase the quality of life, fix bugs and stuff like that but don't change the plot or gameplay. Also considering this is a very old game, i don't even know if it can run in 1920x1080 resolution. So what good graphic mods are there? I've read somewhere that i need ZRP for bugs and OGSR for graphics, but OGSR adds a lot of other stuff as well and i don't want that. So what are your thoughts & suggestions?

You don't need any mods to play the vanilla game on 1920 x 1080 resolution, but if you still want some QOL stuff, then I'd recommend Starter Pack 2019 modpack https://www.moddb.com/mods/starter-pack/downloads/starter-pack-2019-fixed-re-upload

Unlike the Stalker Complete mod pack that some will recommend, Starter Pack keeps the vanilla game play and includes the following mods which fixes bugs not addressed in the patches and upgrades the graphics and shaders.

Dynamic Shaders from AA2.1
FoV switcher
OWR3 weapon pack for Shadow of Chernobyl
Photo Realistic Zone 2.1 textures
HD Models addon for Shadow of Chernobyl
Stalker Weather Overhaul v3.1.1
Zone Reclamation Project 1.07 R5 RC
COMPLETE mod nightvision animation for suits with bad NV

Why do I advise against Stalker Complete on a first play through, or subsequent play through for that matter? Because it changes detection ranges and effects NPC and mutant thus changing the vanilla game play. It also uses an older version of Zone Reclamation Project (ZRP). Those changes along with using an older version of ZRP can cause issues especially with the AI being buggy and borked.

In terms of resolution, the game runs up to 1920x1080 and even 2560x1440 out of the box.

From what I've heard, a lot of people seem to recommend only using the Zone Reclamation Project if you're seeking a bug free, vanilla experience. Especially if this is going to be your first playthrough. Personally, I am on my first playthrough of SoC. Having played Pripyat originally in 2011, I vaguely knew what to expect in terms of gameplay and performance. And so far my experience has been bug free. Aside from a few dead NPCs, which is more of a gameplay issue than anything.

Otherwise, I highly recommend checking out Anomaly and the Gunslinger mods once you have finished your initial playthrough's of each game. I do not recommend playing these before as they drastically alter the games. Anomaly in particular removes the original story in place of its own.

I will be short of advice for graphics. The perfect Stalker doesn't exist yet, and this is why Stalker 2 is so much expected.

For a first run, I usually advice :
- Shadow of Chernobyl + Complete mod
- Clear Sky + Complete mod
- Call of Prypiat on its own.

This is what I did and I enjoyed the experience very much. But don't expect top-notch graphics.

Sorry I can't talk about Vanilla, I'm not familiar with that mod.
