What I can say for sure:
Of course, if you have a widescreen monitor, you have to use widescreen fix. On the contrary, if you don't have a widescreen monitor, then installed fix will only screw the UI, so the fix should be uninstalled for a non-widescreen monitors.
There's no escape from that, because the engine of this game only support only one aspect ratio. This problem was fixed in Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat and support for 16:9 ratio was added... But not in the Shadow of Chernobyl.
I dont know, I think im confused too. Before the mod I ran the game at 2560x1440 and everything was fine. Then I installed the mod and my inventory items get crazy stretched out and wonky.
In the mod configurator itself, there is an option specifically for widescreen UI. You have two options, you can either enable hud with widescreen, or without widescreen. But if you hover the mouse over either option it says that that widescreen support is automatic. So if you are forced to use it, why give you the option? Because neither option fixes my issue.
