This game won't launch

This is for my brother. He bought all three of the series yesterday and when he tried to play it the first starting screen (the little box with the masked stalker) pops up and stays there forever. He's running Windows 10 which might be the problem because mine runs fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It may be related to OpenAL32 or Audio Drivers, such as Realtek High Def.

Could also try setting -noprefetch to Launch Options.

Or just set the game to run in compatibility mode under Windows 7. Or set Steam to run Admin entirely.

I don't know what half of that means or how to do it because It works on my computer. I'll fowatfoward this to him anyway.

Not being somewhat familiar with computers, and trying to play STALKER is never a good idea you will almost ALWAYS run into some problem that needs to be fixed one way or another through the weirdest methods.

Like I said. It works on my win 7 computer so the need to be an expert never asised.

Since your not too clear on were the games were bought..
If the computer meets the requierments of all three games on STEAM, you should have no problems at all. You may need to set the compatability to WINXP or WIN7 if your on WIN10.

If he bought them on DVD, enjoy it as a collection only. Speaking for the US now. The US DVD for SOC version is always v10000, and you need the stkus v10005 patch for this. The DVD is never updated. None of the STALKER series games are US made games, this is why. So once the game is installed, he will need to go online and find the US stkus10005.exe patch for this game. And this patch is not easy to find since it can be down loaded. And he has to set the compatability for XP..

If he got Clear Sky on DVD US version do not bother to install this game. For some reason Deep Silver put in a security checker and this tag checker is not compatable with the any OS higher than XP and there for no matter what the game will never work. It also requiers the stkus10005 patch for Clear Sky and since the "title and rights of owner ship" was won rightfuly by GSC, this patch is not availeble any more anyway. would take some serious looking on the internet.

If he got Call of Pripyat on US DVD, this game has been updated as it is released on DVD and should work fine, You will need to set the compatability mode for XP.

Since SOC DVD and COP DVD are the only ones that will work on the new OS. Even with compatibility on, they will load slow, and added mods makes it load longer.

The STEAM versions all have been updated and load normally, modded or not. So if he has the steam versions installed, and set up like yours, really he should not have a problem unless he is useing a mod that you did not tell us about, which could have errors stopping the loading..

On first time loading you can not have a mod installed..

If your useing a bootleg copy, then your useing a pirated copy of the game, good luck, there is no support for theft games. You will have to take it up with the people you go it from..

It was bought using steam. We fixed it yesterday by verifying the system files and steam found one file. After that it works. He was benge playing all night. Thanks guys!
