Go to ModDb to get answers. I'm having the same problem with that mission. This is not the forums for LA.
Maybe some problem with AI, what version are you using?

Anyway, if you have any problems, go to moddb.com forums or on official GSC sites forum (where LA have 2 own sections)

I'm using version 1.4002. I'll just go to ModDb and official GSC site forum about this. Thank you both for what you 2 have said.

It looks like you have to follow a very specific path or it triggers a failure

Did you find a solution to this issue?

Sid always says I'm straying from the route?
Of course there is no path except the invisible one that I have no way of knowing.
Staying along any fence, until you no longer can as there is no fence logically to stay against, in order to get to the building with the case makes for a very frustrating experience.
There is a broken barbed wire fence that leads towards the tower outpost with a joining wood fence that leads to the building but I still receive the failed mission if I try.

I had to use a cheat feature to get the case. Didn't want to, but I had no other choice.

BTW, this video is a poor example as it is not from the Lost Alpha mod.

Only way to stealth in the stalker games is hide in the bushes unfortunately, the game engine never did have a good sneak attack method just from getting behind them like you can in the fallout games and elder scrolls games

It's a scripting issue with the mod and not a stealth issue.
Even though you haven't been spotted, Sid with his all seeing eye, will tell you that "You've strayed from the route" and the mission will fail unless you immediately get back on the path, wherever that is.

To steal go to the edge of the map and low crouch through the gap in the fence by the fallen tree, around to the back. Hop the crates onto the toilet box and sneak around the building to the front entrance. You should do it at night but you can do it during the day. There will be two guards watching tv in the building, climb over the bed and grab the case. It can be done without alerting anyone.

Here's the topic:

The topic is Lost Alpha and not the original unmodded game.

I really don't know how this fact escaped the attention of the last three posters.
Obviously didn't read any of the previous posts as well and just posted useless info.

I finally managed to do this myself. I'd like to say that there's a special trick, but I just inched towards the fence saving periodically - I ended up with another nine different save files. This is with the director's cut version of Lost Alpha.

On the approach I stuck to the extreme edge of the map, up on a hill - there are a couple of anomalies when the fence stops. Then I descended to the broken part of the fence and moved through. The minefield is easy. The fence also has a couple of anomalies and a small branch (unlike the release version of the game, where there's a large branch).

In the release version you can hop onto the roof, enter the attic, and drop down into the barracks. You can't do that in Lost Alpha - there's a hole in the roof, and underneath it a leather jacket, but although there's a hole in the barracks ceiling it's too small to fit through. It looks as though you're supposed to wait for the guard to patrol around, then inch up a broken drainpipe and hop gently through one of the windows. This is awkward. There's a sleeping guard just to the right as you enter the barracks.

From what I remember if you alert anyone the case disappears and you can't finish the mission. You have to grab the case, get out, then exit the area. In the end I just got frustrated and ran straight for the fence, which worked because I was lucky. It's a frustrating, irritating mission.

yea I know, its not a big deal mission though I just decided to cancel it.

I also had problems finding some of the items for the bandit base mission on the forest map for duty, not a big deal misison either.

only 2 issues I had in lost alpha 1.4002

I just finished the "Steal the box..." mission. Looking back, the communications from Sid seem to mean stop moving and watch the spotlight direction. I went to the far left (East) when walking to the checkpoint and did it from 23:30 to 1:30. Stay crouched the whole time, went past fence and onlty moved when the light was in the 75% of travel that is away. Moved behind tree in middle of the area past the fence, then straight to barracks. I guess it was dark enough that they couldn't see me when crouched.

I've tried several paths, including the one pictured above, and I get a failed mission. I haven't heard Sidorovich talk about straying...not once. I get even with that big, single oak looking tree and it fails. Hugging the fence doesn't work. No help in the moddb.com forums that I could find. Followed some of the youtube vids but to no avail. Very frustrating. What's the console to end this and move on? Can I just let this fail or leave it undone and go on or is it critical to the main story?
