I suggest you read on the artifacts, using a jellyfish with nothing to counter the constant radation will just end up draining your HP.
You can use these maps to see where different things are located http://www.zsg.dk/Map_Interactive.php
I suggest you read up on the different weapons and suits also. Guns like the double barrel are pretty useless and should be replaced with an AK/Viper, once you have an SMG/Rifle you can dump pistols are they become very useless.
Keep an AK/Viper till you get to the underground and get the fast firing AK, that alone should last long enough till you get your hands on some NATO weapons like the SGI-5K.
If you're playing without mods, I recommend using this http://www.metacognix.com/files/stlkrsoc/ this will fix most bugs that are still in the game. You can also enable to have guns repaired (something that exists in the other two games).
Merc suit is at the start of the game, stalker suit is in the Agroprom Underground, Barkeep then gives you another stalker suit, another stalker suit is located in Dark Valley, X18 has a monolith suit (there's actually two but one requires stash coordinates).
Thank you very much for the advice!!!
I always keep at least one of each artifact in my stash for such events. I'm not sure to what end though. I'm on my first playthrough and every time I "save up" the money to buy some new shiny equipment, I end up getting it for free somewhere else anyway.
The bartender wants like 72k for a G36. I brought back 5 of them with one quick trip to the Freedom base and back.
Im on my first 30h~ of the game, master difficulty and already feeling like money is ultimately pointless. All you really need is some decent armor (you will find this regardless) and a gun that actually hits what you are aiming at and that's it. The world is yours after that.
Generally taking down one bandit takes at least 15 NATO rounds hip fired because I'm an idiot and don't check corners so there's always an enemy in my face
i would say this is a pretty old thread.
Thanks to your link and explanation, I'm playing the 2009 version, which solved many bugs and added many nice features, like the fast travel or repairing items. And the link to the interactive maps is very nice, they are very helpful! Thanks a lot, my good sir.
