My gut tells me you - like many people today - are getting hung up because every cargo needs a line that drops off where the cargo is in demand, or it won't be moved to freight stations or onto trains/trucks.
Check your T1 industry. In the information window, it show line usage as YES or NO. After your first train departs, this will change to yes, and your station will receive cargo.
Sadly, the wait till full option is not a good choice in this game, for the above reason.
Or you don't know how the game works (which is no shame because the game doesn't really explain itself), because in OTTD you build from raw material to goods. A good money line first like in OTTD (for example oil to refinery) is impossible in Transport Fever, because the processed oil has to be delivered or the line will fail. This is a problem for a lot of people and the game should really do a better job telling us. (Like give a warning when the production stops because the storage is full or have a little icon near the industry that tells us if it is running or not)
I thought there was a bug because the raw ressources goes to 0 quickly but in fact it was just me doing it wrong. Now I understand better how it works.
No you don't! xD
imo this is a really bad design choice if you do need the full chain to produce anything lol. game is odd so far. OTTDs supply chain mechaincs make sense but i guess ill try another shot at this to see if lumber will even spawn to send it to a sawmill lol. With the limited time i have to game in any given day its a real downer to have to keep restarting games because production just stops for no rhyme or reason.
With the little time i have in, game feels meh so far.
Thank god for bitcoin payments.
If you don't have time then lumber is a bad start because you need a multi-item chain (lumber --> planks --> tools --> city. You could set the game to easy and try to start with the full line or just start with stone --> construction material --> city.
Lumber to sawmill won't work without transporting the planks and the tools...
