Btw, there is key to speed up the battles, I missed that when I first got that game years ago.. . Would have saved me 10's+ hours easilly.
Choosing skills and roles is also not nothing; I frequently had to put my spellcasters in the "forward attack" role where they dealt no damage because I needed my green to block and my blue to cancel a doomspell. Many battles, especially the "continuous" against bosses, came down to sheer attrition, where I simply waited for the boss to run out of MP for their attacks and drained off their blocks with plinking from my green and red until they couldn't defend before I sent my blue in to finish them off.
Basically, gameplay is a desperate struggle to keep your girls alive until the enemy runs out of doom moves, at which point you can overrun them, grab the next town that refils your moves, and start over again.
