Yea. I means you generally know what you're doing. The ranked system in paladins doesn't mean a whole lot though. Much lot of it depends on how much you grind, what region you play at what time, etc. Definitely not worth getting worked up over because I've seen so/so players who got boosted to masters (and they have the border but never came close to masters again), and there's really good players who barely play ranked and thus don't rank high.
Why do people worry about if their rank is a "good" one or not? If you feel like the games are well matched and competitive that's what matters.

I just asked because I only got back into the game and this is new to me, i know that ranked systems usually don't reflect skill, i just wanted to know if it's like a low or a high rank.

I think plat 5 and up is like 40% of player base, so above average but I think the margin of error OS like -8/+4 so you may be exactly average or close to top 1/3. Make it to diamond 5 and you will be fighting the top 20%. Of course, there will still be plat and gold players, but they will have higher win rates than the average player of their rank, vying for ranking up. On the other side, diamond has a high chance of getting matched with masters too. I'm diamond 5 from last run and I often got matched with 3 masters and a gold or 2 masters and 2 gold. It's not a matchmaking flaw, just how it balances teams for people who win their rank and are proving themselves to rank up. I use dual monitors and have paladins guru open and immediately start searching names so I know who to take advice from and whose lead to follow in game, it helps a lot, just close the browser before the match starts

Playing ranked is gamble. You can get lucky on placement matches and get good rank sometimes but if you keep playing and degrade then you didn't deserve that rank. You will get go back to rank you deserve.

Basically, yes, it is good. But not in your case. Calibration games do not define your skill at all. You may be true GM but all 5 games placed with the worst people, you lost all and got like silver 3, that`s weird. On the other hand, you might be lucky enough to get carried through all 5 and got your platinum but in fact you are silver 3. Only if you able to at least stay at the same spot for a long time like a month will define your level. And if you climb up fast then you definitely got calibrated wrong and your skill is much higher. I do not recommend to be based on ELO or your rating points if you are not sure how good you are. Check out at paladins guru what KDA you have, how much damage per minute you deal at your best champions and in general. That`s the only way to define it correct. But anyways, high platinum like around platinum 2 is a good level, not even decent, it is good. It is much above average, coz you can see in game that diamond 5 is top 16% of all players. Top 16% is crazy, platinum 2 is near, maybe 25% or so. That`s really good. Of course, comparing to all players, where we count bronzies, silvers and goldies. If you want to be like the best platinum is not your choice. At least diamond 3.

More than %40 of the all players hit platinium. It's not bad at all. It's the decent rank in paladins i guess.

Calibration doesn't affect your rank that much.
Doesn`t affect that much? How the hell then people manage to get EVERYTHING from bronze to platinum after their calibrations? Maybe you thought all players start somewhere around gold or what? You can get anything after your calibration and it is very important to calibrate well. That`s the reason why people who got bronze-to-gold on their main account create a new one after a while, when they got better about the game, because to climb out of there is really annoying and is about grinding more than about skill.

None of the ranks mean anythign you can get to masters just by playing enough, there is no skill based match making and the games will just have random numbers of players from any rank in them.

Ranked is just a draft playlist it's not actually reflective of any skill. I've been Diamond 1 in ranked and still get paired with golds and silvers on my team.

Don't bother with it.
Most of the playerbase is stuck in Gold 2 so plat is GREAT!

First thing to realize is that the majority of casual, average players don't even step foot into ranked playlists. This applies to any game. So on that basis alone I would bet even a Silver or Gold ranked player is already well above the average playerbase in terms of skill. Within the ranked population itself, however, a Platinum player is probably where I'd start to say 'good' begins.

Bronze - bad
Silver - below average to average
Gold - decent or slightly above average
Platinum - good
Diamond - very good
Master - far above average
Grandmaster - the best of the best, top tier players by all accounts

master= you start playing the real game
under master just a giga clown fiesta
that's the sad realty
