What is the best "starter" champion that you have to unlock?
I have finished levleling up all the initial champions that you start out with free, now i am wondering what is the best "first unlock" champion that you have to pay to unlcock with gold? I am a lvl 16 so i do have experience inside the game and I perfer to play as flank or damage if all possible, but I am open to playing support or frontline :)

Any champion is nice if you can play them well, but if you like to play flanks then I suggest you try to learn Androxus. Many people believe he is the best flank right now, he has high 1 v 1 potential and vertical mobility. Because of this he can kill almost anyone if you are skilled enough.

Is Evie a free starter champ?

I think Skye is the only free flank.

OK thanks dude. North I suggest you playing Evie. At first it good to use her since you're kinda battling low-tiers, but when you master her, you're gonna be annoying for Kinessa and Tyra. Also I suggest you use Pip, great healer.

Get started on learning Makoa early.
Grover is a good option. Your team will thank you for choosing a support instead of another damage/flank.

Is the bomb king any good. I always seem to fight him and lose lol

It depends what you are looking for:
  • If you're looking to play a Tank Barik or Torvald can fit you well (Although Torvald has no escape mechanics)
  • As a damage dealer I would play Bomb King, just because he is fun to play
  • As support Ying is a must, Mal' Damba is probably second but you need time to learn how to play him correctly
  • And as a Flank I would pick Buck, I may be a little biased on this one because he is my favorite champion but I think Buck is one of the best flankers in the game; his sustainability makes up for his pitiful damage and he is pretty easy to use and yet hard to master.

I'd suggest Buck, he's a straightforward flank and an excellent duelist. He also helps teach positioning and when to engage since he is bad against groups but amazing against solo targets

1) Tank: I'd suggest Inara. Right now, her legendary card Mother Grace is probably the most powerful card in the game, which gives you 100% debuff immunity when you're using the Earthen guard ability.

2) Sup: I'd suggest Ying, since it's pretty straighforward - you pretty much need to spam clones in good positions to heal your teammates. Or even Seris, which is harder to play (well) than Ying but it's more rewarding in healing aspect.

3) Damage: I'd suggest Drogoz, but be aware that Drogoz is not a hitscan champion, which means the projectile needs some time to hit whatever you're aiming... so you kinda need to "guess" where the enemy will be to compensate this "lag". It'll be hard initially but eventually you'll get used to it.

4) Flank: I'd suggest Maeve. Usually beginners players have bad aiming and they need to have a good aiming to hit Maeve constantly, since she's very fast.

Strongest champions in this patch. So learn them as soon as possible.

Frontline: Inara, Makoa
Support: Seris, Mal'damba
Damage: Bomb King, Drogoz, Sha Lin
Flank: Androxus, Lex, Evie.

Makoa is somehow proven to be the only champion that will still stay as the best champion in Paladins, no matter how many nerf he gets.
He just gets the job done.

Nthing this. Unless they either remove him or give him romhack tier nerfs Makoa will still the be the best in Paladins. He's flexible in his roles since he's got a mobility skill, a dome shield, his game winning hook and an ultimate that even with cc nerfs still will punch your face in. He can do pretty much anything with ease.

You just got to take alot more care when you play him, like ALWAYS, without fail, buy and max Resilience asap so people don't stunlock/cc the hell out of you when you ult.

I love playing makoa but it's weird to see people say hes so amazing. His shields duration is bad and the cooldown is long and enemies can just walk inside it. His hook is great with a team but enemies can still use an escape power before makoa can shoot. It happens to me a lot, I hook evie, she ice blocks, I hook fernando and he shields, sometimes I hook someone and they even get the first shot off. It should have a mini stun tbh.

His ult is great for survivaing and keeping people away from the obj, but you can just be stuned during and the extra hp isn't really great as you can still die in a few seconds, also you move so slow that you will rarely get a kill with it, even if you hook someone.

@OP I would suggest buck, grover, and inara. Buck is a good flank, he has a heal and an escape if you mess up. Hes quite easy to play.

Grover, is quite tanky and has 2 team heals while also having a good attack to handle long ranged heroes for your team, while you keep them alive.

I would say atm inara is the best front line. She is really tanky. Her warders field makes it hard for the enemy to stay on the objective. Her earthen guard can keep her alive very well. Her ult can win a teamfight and her impasse can counter most powers in the game, including most peoples ultimate abilities!
