That's what it usually boils down to. They are excellent tanks and will survive pretty much any engagement without worry on your part, but at the same time the only way they're going to do much damage is through bleeds/poisons. And even that takes a very long time to burn through large hp bars.
Honestly a named fighter thrall is often a far better choice as it's damage is easily sufficient enough to offset the fewer but enough HP if you're looking to do damage. They just lack a solid inventory.
It's just much cleaner and faster to use a thrall that actually does solid damage.
Greater pets are also incredible for damage output with that +20, but that's up to getting a pet with an attack pattern that actually deals that damage rather than just missing all the time..
do i have to alocate the perk before i put for the newborn pet / new thrall to get the buff? is it a permanent buff?
