Either way a bit of healthy competition can do wonders sometimes.
but Ark and soulmask have the same craft, but soulmask in more easy.
craft it's not all in the game, everything soulmask is better
Well from my brief experience, the crafting interface in soulmask needs some serious work, it isn't categorised well at all, searching for things is quite useless when it returns every recipe that contains the thing you searched for, there is no auto crafting of component parts when selecting a more advanced recipe so everything must be made manually first, but the biggest sin it has is the awful way it handles bulk crafting, no sane person should think that starting the craft of an item, then quickly rushing over to it mid craft and adjusting a slider to add extra before the thing finishes is a good choice.
You're of course free to enjoy it, but it baffles me how awkward the crafting was.
i played the soul mask demo too, and i don't care "at this point" what conan does, i'm done and gone to soul mask. their "thralls" called tribe members are 200IQ compaired to conan thralls, djeezes christ i had no idea "thralls" could be that smart and good. sure they are not perfect in soul mask, but again compair to conan, HOLY F they are better.
evey age conan adds, i feel "no" it feels worse and cheap the longer the ages last. its like they don't care "again no" its like they care even less then usually. and what i hate the most are the live-streams, they make it seem like its the best they ever did and made "holy F talk about being afraid of tencent for not hyping up their work".
Hopefully next conan age is Age of smart and useful thralls, Soul mask runs on the same engine as Conan so theres no excuse to have the lame, useless and lifeless thralls so hopefully the conan devs would copy the behavior of the tribesmen that would eat, rest dance on their own and most importantly would actually work and take care of the choresome part of the game especially now that cant use hatchets to gather branches or crystals.
Do you think anyone on Funcom will take the word of Forums and change their ways because "some random players" say that game is better.
Or do you think someone who likes Conan Exiles will jump to that game that has nothing really to do with Conan Exiles ?
For one, a lot of players play Conan Exiles because it is a Conan themed game. ON that front, Soul Mask could be "almost like real life" for all that those players care.
For two, the demo already show the gameplay of Soul Mask is not the same as Conan Exiles. It wont be a "competitor" in terms of theme or gameplay. Maybe the "time competitor" as much as No Man Sky or Fallout 4 is.
For three, Soul Mask seems to be one of those forever development games which launch pretty things to get money and when the time comes to show what they got for a full game, they cut "a whole act" (garBG3), or dozens of promised features given so bare as to only qualify as not lies (Bethesda "all games").
I would not hold my breath for it.
The character avatars are barely customizable. They are not quite as ugly as Valeheim and Arc, worse than Emberlight and far behind Conan Exiles and most any modern MMO. I doubt the game will attract the role play community.
I hope Soulmask will attract the CE whiners who will stick with it at least until they start changing things to get closer to a release state.
This gives me deja vu from the WoW exodus to FFXIV.
And how that went down ...
But it was funny while it lasted.
YouTubers who were raging WoW started to make the case for going to FFXIV. Right now most of them went back to WoW, because the so called "bad WoW" to them ended up being better than staying on FFXIV.
Which probably means almost all whiners will play that game a week or so, and then come back whine about CE some more.
I liked the demo of soulmask, and I'm certainly going to play it and hope that I enjoy it, especially to see what they've done with the thralling system, (which CE did terribly), but I have no expectation in my mind that Soulmask will ever be even remotely close to feeling as "smooth" in world and character (animations, models, etc) as CE.
Those sorts of changes in these types of games almost never happen, so it's very likely always going to feel clunky and "cheap" in comparison.
Oh.. and if you think soulmask won't have it's own bugs and issues that will drive you mad, you must have been born yesterday.
are you daft?, i'v so many hours in conan, and let me tell you conan still does not have all the animations this game has, like "walking with torch out' try it you can't do it conan, i'v asked them to add that for YEARS, they ignore the requests and its not only me that asks.
all what conan has is pointless emotes, and they sell them for extra money noless now.
from what i'v seen and played of this demo, i'd say its better then conan now. and yes i can not see the future of this game, i have no idea if the devs of this game are going to make the game better or worse, but it can't be worse then conan, that's in a "fanbase farm mode" now with their stupid ages and battlepasses / bazaar.
PS: and i do mean WALKING, not battle-stance around with torch out. i really meant slow walk around with torch out. now you could say, why is that needed, well for RP ofc, they add so many emotes, why do you need them if not for RP eh.
And while a lot of players might love their edgy emo looking barbarians, or their bikini outfits, "high heels on hyboria" (which still boggles my mind), or think that uneven slotted modded placeables are a "must", some people even using mods do not change how the game feels or looks, just some minor aspects on how the game plays.
Now with the Bazaar, a lot of players have ditched a lot of mods which do nothing that much better. Those are statistics, not "me not liking it". My game is heavily modded, but I am aware that it is not what "everyone does", not everyone at all, not everyone who plays PC, not even everyone who mods the game.
