Steam Deck Compatibility?
I've been playing Conan on a private server with my dad who lives across the world from me, and we really enjoy playing together. He recently got a steam deck to play together as he travels, but it does not run on a steam deck.

I've tried all the workarounds with proton experimental, battleye and creating a shortcut to the .exe directly but with no success. Will this game ever be properly supported on the Steam deck, even just for offline/single-player play?

Sad thing is it was working some time ago. Now got no luck at all. After last update I even uninstalled from my deck. If I ever find a workaround i`ll give you a heads up, mate

Could you please let me know how you made it work? It crashes on the opening cutscene whenever I try to run it on Steam Deck after the update.
Steam deck runs Linux doesnt it ? It runs on proton as opposed to most people not getting it to run in Linux by trying to use Wine or something like that.
To run Conan Exiles in Linux proton, and I think by extension on Steam Deck, you have to pay attention to the version. In most cases it uses the correct version of proton, but sometimes it will try to run in a version that causes problems.
If it does not run right away as it should, try a different version of proton to run it.
That is at least how I got it to run in all my Linux PCs.

hi, i used to play conan on deck, online and offline back when my steam deck was still working (thanks again brain for not closing the case when traveling), now in RMA for repair

i used the experimental proton, and latest builds, in the end i was using proton GE but that was about it, i didn't really had to tweak anything

all i can say is
  • do not use wine, just rely on proton
  • maybe try proton ge, if not already tried
  • some game (rare) might require a specific version to work, wether it be an old proton version like 7.0 or something
to just a specific proton ge cause it has a plugin for easy anticheat

tho i did remember i could have trouble sometimes to launch it as it would sometimes randomly just not launch

you still can try restarting the deck, verify files, augment page file in bios or something like that ? (latest was used just for ONE game can't remember which one)

This game now runs great again on Proton & Linux-based OS, at least the SP, with the newest Proton Experimental setting, instead of not launching like previously. Need to remove all the launch option commands used previously.
