To run Conan Exiles in Linux proton, and I think by extension on Steam Deck, you have to pay attention to the version. In most cases it uses the correct version of proton, but sometimes it will try to run in a version that causes problems.
If it does not run right away as it should, try a different version of proton to run it.
That is at least how I got it to run in all my Linux PCs.
hi, i used to play conan on deck, online and offline back when my steam deck was still working (thanks again brain for not closing the case when traveling), now in RMA for repair
i used the experimental proton, and latest builds, in the end i was using proton GE but that was about it, i didn't really had to tweak anything
all i can say is
to just a specific proton ge cause it has a plugin for easy anticheat
tho i did remember i could have trouble sometimes to launch it as it would sometimes randomly just not launch
you still can try restarting the deck, verify files, augment page file in bios or something like that ? (latest was used just for ONE game can't remember which one)
