Welcome to the Mann vs Machine Subforums! This thread contains a collection of the answers to the most common questions people ask here. If you are looking for a specific question, use the "Search this topic" input box on the right. Note: We really beg of you to take your time and read the whole FAQ. It saves you and everyone here time otherwise spent telling you to read this. We can assure that your doubts will be resolved here much better and also explain some of the stuff you'll get to see from the forum.

I CANNOT QUEUE FOR MANN UP! What do I do?

Follow these steps:
-Queue for Bootcamp
-Quit the queue
-Queue for Mann Up again

A second option:
-Open console
-Type "tf_party_leave" (no quotation marks)
This should show the queue button and stop the "whole party needs a ticket" popup.

Why is it taking so long for me to find a game?

The matchmaking servers are used for both PVP and Co-op at the same time. Servers displayed as "empty" while queuing for Mann Up could be showing empty servers for Casual and Competitive as well. Thus, the matchmaking servers take a lot more time to put people into servers. So far, the best attempt at reducing wait time is gathering a team beforehand. You can make a LFT post in our designated matchmaking thread pinned on top.

Why was I kicked?

Most of the time, players kick teammates because they cannot accomplish their role in the game since this is a very team-based mode. If you got kicked it was possibly because you kept messing up or people didn't happen to like you. The best way to deal with this is to move on and learn from any mistakes you may have made.

To avoid getting kicked in the future, read some guides relating to MVM, make sure that you have the weapons that are useful for MVM, listen to people around you and do what they say. Just keep in mind that what they tell you to do might not be the best thing to do, but it will keep you from being kicked.

Am I banned from MvM?

Many people have arrived saying they have a ban at MvM in general. This is not the case. The game simply tried to matchmake you into a server you got kicked from, and kicks ban you for 30 minutes tops. To avoid getting sent to that server again, uncheck the "Join game in progress" tick or remove the mission you went into from your searching queue settings.

When is my ticket used/not used?

It's used only when you finish a mission. When you complete a mission that you have already finished (it will have a ? next to the mission name rather than a ? when you are on the mission select screen), your ticket will not be used and you will not get any loot. Also what may have happened is that the TF2 item server went down. If that happens then your ticket will not be used and you will not get any loot.

What is a Squad Surplus and how does it work?

Squad Surplus works like an extra ticket you can cash in during Mann Up for an extra random drop. This doesn't increase the chance of rare drops from appearing. All six teammates can get a Surplus for extra loot if they wish to.

How do I get loot?

By completing a mission you haven't done in the tour, your ticket will be used and you will get loot according to what Tour you’ve been doing. Alternatively, you can get extra drops for you and your team by using a Squad Surplus.

What kind of loot can I get?

You can get a few different kinds of loot from MVM. You can get hats and normal weapons from every tour. You can get botkiller weapons from every non-two cities tour. From Two Cities, you can get killstreak kits, specialized killstreak fabricators and pro killstreak fabricators. You can also get robo parts from two cities which you use to build killstreak fabricators. Australiums will only drop in advanced and expert tours.

Why didn't I get loot?

You may have lost connection to the items server, the Mann Up server you are in effectively became a Boot Camp server, or you replayed a mission that you have already completed. When this happens just wait to see if you get your items, sometimes you will and sometimes you will not. If you do get your loot, your ticket will be consumed.

Why is my tour progress gone?

You possibly deleted your badge. If your badge gets deleted then your tour count will be set back to zero. You will get a new badge once you finish another mission.

How can I check my MvM stats?

There are some ways you can check how much you have done since you started playing MvM. One method is checking your inventory for your tour badges, which tell you exactly how many tours have you done and how many missions you have left. Another method is checking your Steam profile’s TF2 achievements.

Achievements like Silicon Slaughter and Metal Massacre indicate how many robot kills you have done and T-1000000 indicates how many credits you have picked up. There is also a site called mvmlobby.com where you can also look at people's MvM stats.

Who wants to play MVM with me?

It’s recommended that you use the search function before that. Many people come looking for teammates here, so take a look at what they have to offer.
If you create a new thread to find a team, please include the following information:

• Desired tour(s) and/or mission(s) to play
  
• What time you would like to play (Please include a time zone/location with this!)
  
• Additional notes you would consider important to know

This helps others looking to play making it easier and quicker to find match-ups.

Why was I disconnected with a message saying: "Disconnect: Buffer overflow in net message"?

This happens mostly in infinte money community servers. It happens because your game can't handle the amount of data of the cash and the upgrades. There's a couple workarounds, like giving amounts of money lower than 20000 credits, or unequipping your cosmetic gear. Either way, the game can't handle too many resources at once, so try avoiding this kind of servers so that the game doesn't kick you automatically.

How do I kick someone in spectator?

Since you can’t kick spectators through the in-game menus, you need to use the console. In the console, type status, check the ID of the player in spectator (its the one to two digit number next to their name), then type “callvote kick #ID”. A vote against the spectator will be called. From there, the team just needs to accept the vote.

Why can't I upgrade?

It's a common glitch in MvM. To fix it, you can swap classes, type kill in the console or check if you pressed "Accept" to apply your upgrades. Sometimes none of that will work and you will need to find a new server.

excuse me,has something similiar happened to you in mvm?Or are you talking about a tf2 server in general?

If you want loot, buy it. Don't poison the MvM community with your greed even more.

It's cheaper to buy them through the market than having to play with luck.
To even get good loot you need to complete the whole tour.That is atleast 3 tickets at minimum.

I played Mann-up, I timed out at the last wave, I came back at the last moment, I got my loot, but it used 2/3 tickets...

When I start playing mvm, my tf2 crashes. I do not have any custom huds, but the game still crashes. I played mvm with low resolution and etc, it was fine. Then later on it starts to crash "engine error" is there anything i need to remove from my files?
