Southern Hospitality...?
As an Engie main, MvM is pretty great for me. My favorite wrench is the Southern Hospitality (now competing with the fixed Jag) but I was wondering if the SH does bleeding damage to robots. Because... robots don't have blood.

It does do bleeding damage to bots.

However unlike players, robots don't care about bleeding and will still attack you until you or they are dead. I recommend you use the jag because even a crit from that can still insta kill a spy bot.

Trust me, I used to use the southern alot too, but I find the jag is better for your own survival.

Thanks, I'll use the Jag for MvM and switch between it and the SH in other scenarios.

No problem mate.
Well, between Jag, Stock, or SH, there's not a lot of difference. However, the no crits attribute from the SH can be problematic if you planned on meleeing the Tank (because max wrench attack speed + sentry is better than sentry + wrangler, if you have random crits)
u need to use jag (for fastfixing) wrangler,(for damaging tank from a long range)rescue ranger (for escaping from a sentry buster or fixing)

- Jag actually repairs a tiny bit slower than a stock wrench due its penalty.
- Wrangler isnt for far range wrangling... its for tanking damage and blocking. Smack the tank with your Wrench + sentry firing automatically at it. More damage.

Also, it doesn't really matter what weapons you use on Engineer. Nothing is big gameplay changing, except the Gunslinger.

Are you kidding? dealing with spy swarms is a nightmare with the southern (unless you have suportive teamates) not to mention the fire vulnerability makes you tan quicker than one of the Jersey shore boys before a night out.

No it doesant effect game play much but it really makes you more "vulnerable to the elemants" I actually find it a down grade to your personal defence.

Someone posted a guide to use the RR to repair instead so it doesn't matter much. Especially if you use more canteens to build more. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=396256908&insideModal=1

That weird but funny playstyle doesn't really work anymore. The gun mettle update made it really dumb.

Oh and don't use it if you are gonna widowmaker. It even halves that metal gain.

Lol, a simple gameplay mechanics question snowballed into a discussion on loadouts.
Here's a quick verdict:

-Jag is good for MvM, but not the best for tank-smacking
-SH is good when there are spies/random idiots pestering you in pubs n' stuff

That's the MvM forum for you.
What's more surprising is that sigsegv hasn't chimed in with how valve completely screwed up some mechanic or another in ways that no one would expect (I mean, we expect the ludicrous breakage, but we don't know what form it will take or where it will show itself) that make or break it even further.
I can't think of any horribly broken things in this particular case, so you'll have to settle for a possibly-useful tidbit instead.

Spybots' AI is fairly simple, and you don't have to do very much damage to them before they start retreating fully. So SH might be a bit useful there, since it'll keep injuring the spy you hit, which will continually influence its AI to try to run away. Obviously you still need to deal with the spy eventually to finish him off, but it should do a reasonably good job of making him keep his distance for a while.

Overall though, Southern Hospitality is just a bad idea for MvM.

No point for even a pro to try, better off just crit swatting them, thus completly removing the problem. Then you can get back to hitting more important things. Like your sentry.
