I think the most on a weapon I've seen was a minigun with about 42,000 kills, and in second place, "point-and-click adventure game" sniper rifle with 11,000 kills.
The most I have seen on a strange was on an obviously farmed gold botkiller minigun with over 250 000 kills. The highest legitimately ranked strange was a Hale's Own Sticky Launcher with 20 000 kills. This owner is a regular on the servers I play on, and I witnessed him recieving that Sticky Launcher from a crate. Over time I saw it rank up and eventually become Hale's Own. Now, I have been playing for about a year now, I started playing in the aftermath of Pyromania with MvM just a week away, and the fact that he managed to get over 20 000 legit kills in that time is quite astounding.

I just wonder why people want to farm stranges? It doesn't do anything to their value, since the counter resets upon changing owners, and if you have a ridiculous amount of kills on the weapon then it's blatanty obvious that it's farmed. I've been on idle servers before (not to farm stranges but to get some of the harder achievements) and there were people that had probably been farming their stranges for weeks.

I do see many idle servers going down now, since Valve has basically given the middle finger to idlers by pausing their item drops if they idle (this was done sometime last week, look in the TF2 news for info). This means next to 0 idlers in the future and also fewer farmed stranges.

Unless all they actully want is to farm their stranges.

Could be that they get something to show for idling.

Penguin is a major idler/farmer. Guy doesn't even play player vs player.

I do find it funny he claims (in this thread) he doesn't farm yet screenshotted himself farming.

Stickybomb launcher with 60k. You cant really call weapons like that farmed though. Although a scattergun with that many kills is just outrageous

You guys are a bunch of idiots claiming ohh that was farmed and so was that. There are plenty of competitive players with thousands of kills. I myself have had 2 hales own RL's and is working on my third and not 1 farmed kill. A guy on a pub server I go to has 108k on his scattergun and he never farmed. Esea invite/IM/open players all have a ton, Tone_pot and ma3laa both have 100k+ on their RL's and over 60k on their shotguns. If you are a skilled soldier or scout or demo you can get hundreds of kills a day in mge. Just don't assume its farmed.

This is seriously hard to believe.

Does the guy have like 5,000 hours in the game?

I saw a minigun with 30 000 kills, pretty good but it was obviously farmed, I prefer legit playing because I am interested in how many legit kills I cna get
This is an example of a farmed inventory of stranges:

http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198047792271/inventory/

over 6000 kills on a Boston Basher? 4,000+ on a Wrap Assassin?

If you proceed to check that guy's stats, he has ridiculous kills per death. And he has screen shots of himself farming his stranges.

Couple that with virtually no screenshots at ALL of any real PVP play (despite a plethroa of screenshots) and it's obvious that such user farms.

By the way what is this "Farming" term mean?

Farming means to constantly do the same task, in TF2 people farm by constantly killing positioned bots to artificially inflate the amount of kills in a strange weapon.
Actually, Bot kills don't count so people that farm kills go to idle servers, most of which place people that idle in the spawn too long somewhere where the other team can easily kill them to rack of kills on a strange, or earn achievements.

For the high number of kills on a Strange Minigun, this could be (and is in the case I posted above) someone that only plays Heavy, a class that by his own admittance, a blind monkey could play.

As i have said, many competitive scouts have high scattergun kills because they pick off stray targets and kill the targets with low hp.

Let's assume that a compeitive player can get on average a kill every 15 seconds. So that's 4 kills a minute.

100,000/4=25,000/60 minutes = 416.6 hours of straight scout playing.

You would expect those sorts of hours for comp players
