hi I've played plat and I don't use it because I'm capable of pressing keys.
I know a ridiculous amount of comp players who use it and a lot who don't, the ones who do will admit it barely if at all makes a difference.
in all my hours of team fortress two, including surf, scout, soldier medic and a variety of other VERY a-d heavy roles (seriously with surfing 400+ APM on just a/d some maps) I've never noticed a point where I've needed to install it. its usefulness is surely debatable, but if it deserves ANY hype it sure as hell doesn't deserve this status of instant-skill config it has right now.
If you feel like it doesn't improve your play enough for you to use it, then don't. But eventually, it's a feat that comes in handy in the couple of situations where your buttonpressing isn't 100% on-spot - and how many there are is something you can easily check with cl_showpos; while it's not always a life-and-death difference, it'll show just how often your movespeed flickers. Every time it does so you lose time that this script would've saved.
Call it a marginal difference if you want, but not using it grants zero advantage, whereas using it has no downside to it, even if it only makes a difference in one out of a hundred confrontations, it's still an improvement.
you haven't played comp since season 1, things have changed, plus 95% of comp players are idiots who use stupid scripts and crosshairs. plenty of top-tier players use stock HUD, should I make a thread called 'protip : use nothing but the default game' no, because its personal preference, this script is 100% unnecessary, it will only help people with seriously terrible mechanics, and even then it won't help enough to make a difference. seriously, if you feel you need this script you have much bigger coordination issues than pressing a and d at the same time.
the 100 hours kid might only have 100 hours but at least he doesn't need help pressing keyboard buttons Jesus.
it promotes bad habits, if you need this script go get checked for clinical muscle disorders or something. otherwise don't bother, let's you jam WASD to dodge airshots when you don't use it.
I played last season, nothing changed.
If you feel 95% of comp players are idiots that has little to do with strafing, this is a meaningless point.
Most top tier players do not use stock hud.
This thread is old and helpful, don't be so butt hurt about the word pro. Most people will find they can strafe easier with this script. If you don't that is fine, but more people use this script than don't.
It helps everybody who cannot instantly press from left to right in 0.00 seconds, which is everybody. This has more to do with logic than nerve disorders.
100 hours is nothing and it is obvious he shouldn't have even commented.
Again, if you feel like the default version where you lose time every time you change direction doesn't put you at a noticable disadvantage, you are merrily invited to keep it that way. Just know that you, just like any other player, would in fact benefit, or, if you're a 100% accurate machine, at least not suffer any drawbacks from a script like this.
Whether not you consider it worth the effort of copy-pasting a batch of code eventually is entirely up to the individual.
Also, let me say that the amount of self entitlement you display is just astounishing.
Yes, you are an expirienced competitive player, we get that - contrary to what you seem to believe though, this doesn't mean your opinions, ways and viewpoints are the one and sole truth™ and everyone daring to disagree with any of it is someone who miserably failed at life. The topic at hand purely is a matter of preference. And you yourself labelled 95% of comp-players idiots with stupid preferences to begin with, so I don't have a problem with pigeonholing you yourself as exactly that; not to mention a condescending jerk on top of that for statements of this caliber exactly.
I use the Null Movement Script.
It isn't a super obvious change, but it helps quite a bit. Example: If I strafe around a corner, I can react a bit quicker, movement wise, if someone was around it.
I don't use crosshair scripts or any of that. but I use FPSConfigs, and a cl_cmdrate stuff.
I use a Zoom Script to. though, rarely use it.
