sometimes steam support grants players their items back. I guess you might as well submit a support ticket for TF2 and request yours back. idk if it'll work but its worth a shot

Iirc they're usually okay with giving things back assuming they're not marketable/tradeable/craftable. The spellbooks are a good example of that. It's probably gonna take awhile for anything to happen, however.

As long as you make it clear that the item was deleted on accident and that it is untradable/unmarketable, Steam Support should be able to give it back to you.

I tried yesterday, and this is their answer: Steam Support cannot assist you in recovering deleted items. The item is deleted in two stages, and before deletion, a dialog box appears confirming your action. Always make sure that you only remove items that you no longer need.

Insist that it was an accident and that the item cannot be traded nor sold for profit in any way and, because it was acquired by completing an achievement in-game, it is impossible for you to obtain it again.

Why do you delete items? If you get another one are you just going to delete it out of impulse?

When your backpack is full TF2 asks if you'd like to delete an item when you get an item drop. A lot of F2Ps who don't know any better will get rid of their achievement items in turn for a new weapon since they are limited to 50 backpack slots. That's how I lost nearly all of my achievement items almost a decade ago.
