Pricing an Unusual Team Captain Hat

I have a Team Captain hat with the Molten Mallard effect which I unboxed first out of all the TF2 players. Normally I would ask a broker but they would just lie since my item is so rare [apparently]

just look at hats/effects that sell for around what a tc sells for and sell for around that (it being 1 of 1 id sell for a bit over)


also coming from a un trader (and a brokker) 1 of 1 hats can be a bit of a ass to sell, people get werid when theres no "set price" amd if its a effect thats not in the top list then they will lowball it like hell

It's hard to say, but Team Captains tend to go for quite a few Buds so don't be in a big hurry to sell it.

Personally, if it were mine, I'd keep it.

It's best to keep your unusual until more of it will be uncrated (which is extremely unlikely to happen)

You do have a godly hat with a very good effect. I'm envious.

more hats would get a set price, but prob make its price lowen then it is now

but yer, keep it, its a good hat that can be worn by 3 that are used alot (solly, hoovy and med)


but if you relly want to sell it just thow it up on a tradin site like outpost and ask for offers. also go to a un tradin surver and ask ofr offers on it. find a offer you like, take it.... or ask for more, its what most un sellers do (f*cking money hungy people...) lol

Would I base it off a burning unusua TC?

id looks at other effect and see if any sell for around the same price as the effect you have.

eg if a schortch sells for the same as yours on a few other allclass/multtyclass hats then look what the schortch sells for yours and price yoru s around that


as i seid, un tradein is hard, werid and the people there are money hongry wh*res who only want the god tir hats and effects

There are 11 one-of-a-kind Team Captains, 5 of them are priced, 6 of them (including yours) are not. The cheapest of those is a Memory Leak Team Captain priced at 13.4 buds and the most expensive of those is a Chiroptera Venenata Team Captain priced at 80 buds.

Overall with Team Captain pricing, the cheapest is Bubbling Team Captains at 2.9 buds (44 currently exist) and the most expensive is Burning Flames Team Captain at 540 buds (6 exist).

As for the Molten Mallard effect itself the cheapest is 1.2 buds while the most expensive is 26.5 buds. The 26.5 bud one is a Virtual Viewfinder, which prices the Burning Flames at 180 buds (compared to the 540 buds for a Team Captain).

Therefore if you wanted at minimum price I would say 27 buds minimum, but I would say to go high and you could probably get 35 to 40 buds. That being said, I am unfamiliar with unusual pricing, so I could be completely wrong.

With all the Duck Hype, I'd say that's (easily) 50-60 buds.

I really hate when complete trading noobs unbox god tiers their first crate while I've been trading for months and still am nowhere near that level. :*)

Lucifer's logic is close, but as it is "clean" (no scammers, one person history, not duped, etc) and as the Team Captain is one of the highest tier and most sought after unusuals, you can safely name your price and collectors will come running.

Prices on any collectible are completely subjective... Anyone who tells you an absolute price on a collectible item is talking out of their ass. Dont accept other people's price for your item. Decide for yourself what would make you happier than what you have now, then find someone who has what you're looking for & try to work out a deal that you feel is (at least) equal. If you cant find anyone who will agree to your valuation of your item, then you can step back and rethink your price. Also, the sites that show if a hat is 1 of 1 are not necessarily right all the time. If a hat or item is in a private pack, or if the person's pack has never been indexed by the site, the item will not show up on the search.

Bottom line, if you unboxed it & there are no others for sale, then, you get to set your price... If there are others for sale, the fact that you unboxed it yourself might mean that it means more to you than what others are asking, so ultimately, you have to decide for yourself what the item is worth to YOU...

If you are looking to sell it, personally I'd talk to Mattie - you can find him near the top of the bp.tf list of top backpacks... He collects Unusual Team Captains and would likely be the best person to offer on your TC.

lol... not sure if your a troll (if so, fail try) or a noob in un tradin. the two top ways to sell uns for money are:

1. sell it on the market

2. sell it for real money (by ways of paypall, ect)

or op could sell it for buds and sell seid all (or some) of the buds on the market/paypall


and havent you herd of the viewfindder that got sold for a few thousand dollars
