Diamondback if you tend to get a lot of backstabs in 1 life
Revolver if you don't care about crits :P
This is pretty much what I was thinking. I was thinking of selling my Diamondback and getting a Strange Wrench and Medi Gun.
L'tranger if you want to play a stealthier playstyle
Ambassador is a bit iffy and it doesn't encourage any type of gameplay
Diamondback makes a good hit-and-run weapon and playstyle
And Revolver generally is overshadowed by everything else.
Amby for reliability once you learn to aim,
DiamondBack for stocking up easy kritz, but not quite as reliable,
Enforcer for taking out buildings,
L'tranger if you want more cloak time and don't intend to use your gun unless needed,
And I agree, Revolver for that chance for a stronger random krit i guess.
Ambassador: Assassination and Elimination
Revolver: Self-Defense and Aggressiveness
L'Etranger: Infiltration and an Escape Plan
Diamondback: Alternative to the Ambassador and a Saboteur gun
If you want a more of an aggressive style, use the amby. The diamondback is an alternative, but I wouldn't recommend it unless there are lots of engi buildings around.
Getting crits anytime if you aim well is better than getting crits after backstabbing someone/sapping a building.
If i feel i have a bad day where i can't aim well or play on BLU on attack/defend and payload, then i use the diamondback. Crits from backstabbing and sapping buildings can be useful if you're discovered and have to retreat.
I never use the stock revolver unless i'm forced to.
Let's assume you have perfect aim with all revolvers. Even in this situation, the ambassador is still not the best in every imaginable situation, which seems to be poular belief.
Revolver, enforcer, andd diamondbackk are superior in self defense situations(somebody sees a stab, for example). The enforcer and revolver lack the ability to exploit small windows of oppurtunity like the ambassador can. The enforcer gets a lot of hate, but it's balanced.(equal dps to revolver, you just don't have to hit as many times). The ambassador lets you take down isolated targets, but I really think it's overrated. You give up a noticabble chunk of your self-defense abilities in exchange for the ability to headshot, which takes time to line up and rarely deals enough damage to matter. Diamondback is my personal favorite because it's basically a cross between the revolver and ambassador, providing moderate self defense with no stored crits, but the stored crit from a stab plus a bodyshot or two should be enough to finish off anybody who may have seen you. I strongly dislike its model, and it has a noticable firing noise. It pairs particularly well with the kunai(favorite knife) because crits + health buff makes a great combo and will get you out of many situations unharmed. I remember a particular instance on plr_pipeline when I was using that loadout. I approached the enemy cart from behind but was seen my a pyro and ignited I then backstabbed the heavy, extinguishing myself, killed his medic with the diamondback crit, then ran away with the cloak. I'm not a huge fan of the L'etranger- I think it would be much more powerful if it had a 100% damage penalty. It may seem wierd at first but when you think about it you would be able to fully recharge cloak and move around the map like some kind of ninja because foes would never know you were shooting them. of course, you would sacrifice all non-stab combat abilites for extreme mobility and fleeing power.
That's all and please let me know what you think.
Jesus, that was longer than I thought. Sorry for the wall of text..
tl;dr Diamondback is most well-rounded, everything else is so situational it's not worth equipping it for a whole life.
