Team Fortress 2
Any tips for aiming the Flare Gun?
I can't believe I'm actually saying this...I need help with the game.

Narcissistic Comments aside, Anyone know a good guideline for aiming with the Flare Gun? I seem to miss Snipers who are literally on fire and running in a straight line. Like, It's supposedly a VERY easy shot, but I'm just missing like a maniac.

Anyone got any useful tips? like, trajectory or Optimal Distance?

Also, Just to let you know, any useful data in this thread will be going towards my Backburner Guide.

Like literally, I'm making a Backburner Guide.

Thanks and have a great day.

Look, hitting someone from long range is nearly purely luck theres really no way to get better at it, pyro isnt built for long range. For close range? dont rush, puff, airblast, FOCUS shot.

Read through it. It should help you out. It basically comes down to knowing the projectile arc, the projectile speed, and predicting enemy movement. The first two come from using the weapon a lot, while the last comes from playing the game.

I don't know what you are smoking, but I want some.

Anyways, I do really well with the flare at long range because I know from expirence how the trajectories will go and have a decent idea where people will be. The flare, in my opinion, shines in two areas: sniping snipers and finishing off scouts.

Snipers are easy targets because of how still they stand and predictable they move when scoped in. You will get better as you practice, but you always have to aim higher than your target because chances are, you are going to hit the floor rather than the cieling/wall if you got horizontal accuracy.

Scouts are tricky to hit while they are NOT on fire, but set them on fire, and let them retreat, and watch how they are suddenly the most predictable thing to hit. Since they got some of the lowest health, if you set them on fire you will likely make them want to flee towards a health pack, which fortuantly for you, is easy pickens with the flare. Since the scout wants to get to that health ASAP, they will turn thier back towards you and run straight towards the health pack. What makes scouts so hard to hit is they are always dodging, but suddenly when they are trying to get to the health kit fast, they don't have time to shoot, dodge or evade. If theya are running in a straight line away from you, you will have an easy shot at thier back for a good -90 crit. Like anything, it will take practice in game to be able to crit them while they are moving in a perpandicular angle to you or at a diagonal angle, but it is possible.

Hope this helps
