why can't i trade items in tf2?

if you are ftp then you can't do anything, if you signed into your current PC you cannot do anything for a week and Valve made it so if you did not spend 5$ minimum, then you are restricted from some feutures to help prevent phishing ext.

There are different type of restrictions. To trade TF2 items that you find as drops you need to spend money of TF2 specifically, not just on Steam.
To be more specific, money needs to be spent on the Mann Co. Store, buying a TF2 item off the Steam Community Market doesn't count (I notice you purchased a crate off the market).

So you have two options when it comes to buying: 1) Pick the cheapest item, probably like a 20 cent weapon. 2) Buy a key for $2.49 and then trade the key for 288 weapons (i.e. less than 1 cent for each weapon).

also to fix this error you need to go into your loadout class selection thing, press trading and buy something cheap but majorly usefull like the backpack expansion thing, confirm the purchase then you can buy whatever you need
