Game crashing after x64 update fix

If your game is crashing after the x64 update then it might be because of your launch options.
I found out that the -nod3d9ex launch option command is causing my game to crash, idk how but it just does lol. So if you have this command then remove it and you should be able to play tf2 again.

Clearing your launch options helped me.

These are my only launch options: -dxlevel 90 -novid.
Im able to launch the game, but joining a server causes it to crash.

For me im able to play a game but when its time to switch maps my game crashes.

for me the game launches, the default hud's item shop rotates the item, new item icon flashes but the game crashes immediately when i click anywhere in game
and i did try removing all the launch options and mods and reinstalling the game but still doesnt work

Have you tried restarting tf2 completely?

Since the game crashes I have to relaunch the game, if I were to click in game or alt tab out it would crash, but I managed to find the stupid issue, its a mfing windows 10 microkok "quality" update, that was about something security. Uninstalling that worked for me its the update that happened on the same day of posting that comment 2024/5/17 (2024 May 17th Friday) "KB5037768" quality update.
hope this helps whomever suddenly couldn't play tf2 only from this update (literally other games worked just fine, I hate this OS)

I think I have, do you have alot of mods? If so, remove all of them and see how the game runs without them.

this sucks on ice, i feel like it's gotta be a valve bug, cuz i'm not using any launch options other than borderless windowed, novid and -h -w, so if those cause a crash that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ lol
