how do you level up weapons?

i cant seem to level up my weapons. I have at least 50 kills with my phlogistnator (probably spelled that wrong) and it has not leveled up but i have seen people with less kills than that and they have leveled up weapons. Could someone explain how leveling up weapons works?

You need a Strange weapon to level it up

Can you specify "leveling up" do you mean the items level, kills, or what?

Weapon "level" - the numerical value - is a fixed value. It doesn't do anything whatsoever, it doesn't change.

Strange kill "levels" require a Strange quality weapon. As Strange quality weapons only come from opening crates or Mann Up tours of duty (and thus consequently cost money to acquire) - you'll find they have relatively high demand. If you want them, you can get them from Steam Marketplace, or via trading if you have enough metal. Backpack.tf gives you an idea of pricing.

I wouldn't recommend getting stranges when you're new. They make you forcefully realize how badly you are actually playing..

you need your weapon to be a killstreak or strange to keep tract of your kills. you can do this by adding a strangifier or killstreak kit that is for the weapon specifically. also, if you mean the little number like lvl 10 bat, thats just a number, in fact, the number goes down the more you use it. for example i had a lvl 89 bread bites, the gloves or running urgently bread reskin, now its lvl 4.

needs to be a strange, you can make a weapon strange by adding a strangifier from chemistry kits and items like them.
probably not enough kills or the kills need to be from valve servers so they count

The level actually means nothing, it's only like if you get a level 1, 99, 100, 69 or some special number that it might add some value. "Leveling up" just means that you get kills with a strange weapon. You're not leveling up the level, but the kills. like leveing up from Server clearing (2500 kills) to epic (5000 kills)

U don't HAVE to be premium ya know. I men like I'm still a f2p cuz I havn't bought anything from tf2 nor Steam and look at my bp...
