Team Fortress 2
Should TF2 Be Sold To Another Company?
Should TF2 Be Sold To Another Company? I know that this sounds stupid and it can be a seriously bad thing for the game, but just think about it: would it be a smart thing to do? Should VALVE seriously think about giving the rights of TF2 to another company? Sure, TF2 is one of VALVE's shining stars, but look at how long it has been since TF2's diaper has been changed. It has been almost three years since this game has had a serious overhaul with updates. So, let this settle in for awhile as well with the thought of VALVE selling the rights to TF2: would VALVE really care if they sold the rights to another company? Because I really don't think they would sadly.

Now let's see how long this stays up before it is taken down. Because this may be taken down due to this topic.

Basically this.
i feel like they would try to change into a way that it is more catching to new people on steam
valve didn't give any of their games to other companies
so i just think it would kinda be like star wars and disney it will be something that everyone looks back on and just hates

not to mention anyone outside of valve would probably even know how to change it.

Valve honestly doesn't give a rat's ass about TF2. Out of three games I joined this morning alone, within the past hour, all 3 were infested with aimbots. If Valve gave a damn, this wouldn't be a problem. Repeat offenders would've been hardware banned repeatedly so it'd become prohibitively expensive for them. Valve would also reliably release content and fix the many bugs plaguing the game, such as the Spy disguises missing heads and limbs bug.
Depends on which company. If it gets sold to a good developer and we get some decent quality updates out of it, then yes. If it's EA, then I will go commit Equalizer Taunt.
Yes.
Tf2 should be sold to EA.
should? maybe

could? very unlikely
would? most definitely not
no, it would be a horrible idea.
imagine if nintendo sold the splatoon franchise since they haven't updated it in a while, if they were to do that they would make some short term profit but lose the oportunity to ever make another splatoon game ever again. which is why it's bad from the buisness side.
but on the consumer's side for TF2 specifically the main candidates who could/would buy tf2 are blizzard because it's the basically only real competitor for overwatch, and Epic because a well respected game like TF2 being moved from their "competition's" store to their's would be increadibly profitable.
and while we would get more consistant updates for the game in that case, they'd be updates we would definitly not want.
look at the most recent overwatch hero that was added, Echo, she can use her ultamate to transform into any character on the enemy team and is able to use that character's ult aswell and said ult charges after like 2 or 3 shots. which is increabily over powered, which is what blizard's design statement might as well be "it's either good to the point were you need it, or bad to the point you couldn't use it if you wanted to"
and epic games, is epic games. if you think the microtransactions are bad now then imagine the mann co store being the only option, and prices in said store skyrocketing on top of a scam battle pass

But if blizzard bought tf2 we might finally get Ms. Pauling as the 10th class and ultimate abilities for everyone besides medic.
