Why does this Demoman voice line exist?

One of the "Thanks!" lines he goes "I didn't need your help ya know"

I've never found this line appropriate. Sure he taunts and teases with his other lines, but when you are saying thanks, in my opinion it shouldn't be disrespectful. The Scout, which is way more cocky, doesn't have anything like this in his "Thanks!" responses. Actually none of the classes do except Demoman. Why is that?

So then give him a drunk sounding line that isn't disrespectful. Demoman is the only one who has a Jeer as a Thanks. It doesn't seem appropriate.

"I didn't need your help ya know" means "thanks" in the Scottish language.

Because he is drunk and has an ego.
He used to said to medics.

I've not heard him use it when medics are healing him anymore but he will use it a lot when using the 'Thanks' voice line, it kinda forces me to use the voice line again to get a less rude response as that one as it's quite rude lol.

I do the same thing. I hate it when the disrespectful line comes out. It makes me think I'm intentionally being rude to my teammates. A new player might take it the wrong way.
