Just keep playing regular casual. Overtime you’ll get better by doing that. Practicing with bots won’t really help.

KOTH is probably the best for beginners.

you'd want to if you just wanted to get used to the basics. to improve in general, you simply persevere against actual players.

as for more intensive and peculiar training:
to do some aim drills, maps like tr_walkway do the job better.
for all 1v1 combat skills, it's pretty much community servers like mge.

vanilla bots matches are a curiosity at best. even as a warm-up they're not worth booting up a map.

for gamemodes, you just pick the maps which are less enclosed. avoid dustbowl, turbine, 2fort, and anything like them cause they favor camping more than actual fights.

2890h and im still an idiot at the game
Practicing bots will help you get used to the interface and you can get some practice with explosive jumping in combat situations (trying to land that market gardener?). As for actually tactics, they won't actually help you much since the bots are not very bright. Over the years bots go between "useless" and "sniper kills all non-sniper bots and all humans instantly." In fact if you're in a 90 degree cone in front of a Sniper bot, the difficulty of the bot, if you are moving or not, and RNG just determines how soon it instantly takes your head. How you move is irrelevent Once you get that interface right, they don't have much to teach you. Also, even if bot algorithims could mimic human ingenuity (and the human type stupidity as opposed to their own), running 23 bots on your computer usually degrades performance, so they would end up preforming below their real strength the same way catbots (remember that aimbot varient? I kind of miss those since now there are worse ones) sometimes got outsniped when someone tried to run too many of them..

No. Use MGE or comp servers like TF2Center, ETF2L or any comp service that isn't the official comp mode

i would practice with bots for a little bit, then once you feel comfortable, move into real games. even with my 3000+ hours i still do this sometimes, go for it man

I wouldn't recommend it to you, I have played less than 50hrs, on this account, and I would actually say im fairly good comparing to others. Just play alot of casual, and try switching between classes to see which one suits you the most.
