macOS vs Boot Camp Windows 10 (Performance)
Hello there, I have a Macbook Air 2017. I know it's not for gaming but I installed TF2 on macOS, yet it was running terrible. Mouse lag, mouse freezes on clicks, FPS spikes all the time etc. I tried many OS tweaks but nothing helped. I have 2000 hours in this game so I know about all the configs and settings.

Last thing I wanted to try was, to install Windows 10 on an external SSD with Boot Camp, then run TF2 on it. So I did it and I didn't expect this much difference, it's insane. Running super smooth +60 FPS in 12v12.

If you are in the same situation, give it a try.

Good to know, even though Mac is by far the worst platform to do any type of performance related task outside video editing and creation.

boot camp's almost necessary if you have a mac and want to play games, just play the games on windows and keep everything else on mac

I've been a Windows user my whole life. I recently got this MacBook to port my game to this OS. It's worse for gaming obviously but it still can run some lightweight indie games nicely. The thing I love about this laptop is the mobility, carry with one hand, touchpad and macOS are amazing for just internet browsing, multimedia and chatting kind of stuff. But yeah I have to plug my Windows external SSD in when I want to play it seems.

I don't have any PCs or Mac Books. I only have this potato laptop but can run the game smooth at 50 FPS with some configs

That's wrong in my optinion because same hardware runs it very smoothly on Windows as I said. Yet the left side heats up so much that burns my hand when I use WASD keys. Need to plug-in a keyboard.
