The Way Valve Treats The Original TF Characters

I find it amusing how much Valve is actively portraying the original TF team in the comics as flat out irredemable monsters, even downright making some of them pedophiles. Like, Jesus guys, it's not like TFC was that popular to begin with, now to know that we're playing as, as far as we know, the biggest ♥♥♥♥♥ in the Team Fortress universe, I don't think is really going to start boosting the game's popularity by that much. It's kind of facinating how badly Valve seemingly wants to bury that game. Like they were embarassed they even made it and just want to portray the characters from it as negatively as possible for... idk, catharsis I guess . Here's to hoping the same won't happen to the current mercs in 10~ years, or so.

Welcome to Team Fortress Classic, home to the insane, power hungry Heavy, the Sniper and Pyro who take pleasure in torturing people to death, and let's not forget Scout and Soldier, who's life long dream is to partner up and build their very own orphanage for kids in need... just so that they can implicitly molest them at will without consequence...have fun! (Oh, also Demoman, Spy, and Engineer who seem like the least horrible out of the bunch, and Medic who's DOA)

Tbh while the tfc mercs are the bad guys, the tf2 mercs arent really that good either. We're following themwhich makes them the heroes but they arent better

I mean, did you SEE medic and what hes done? Its awesome, but also pretty evil.

Tf2: all are sadists, additionally:
Scout has no respect for anyone
Soldier is well... Soldier
Pyro is insane
Demo is drunk as all ♥♥♥♥
Heavy is relatively ok
Engie cut off his arm to install the gunslinger
Medic made a dral with the devil, experiments on his teammates, is a extra sadist, megalomaniac etc

Well to be fair, the TF2 mercs don't have souls so they kinda get an excuse.

I doubt the TFC Pyro was originally intended to be a woman. So they took artistic liberties all the way. And it's more interesting for the sake of a comic to have them as antagonists than a bunch of emotionless robots and an old guy.

The TF2 guys are pretty villainous themselves, so the villains need to be even worse. The contrast between the cartoon villains that are the TF2 cast and the more grounded, realistic villains that are the TF2 cast is also more interesting than making them both equally goofy.

I think that scene was supposed to be very different to how you are reading it.

TFC Scout and Solider are gay for each other. They wanted an orphanage to raise kids as their own. It was basically an attempt to humanise them as not being irredemable monsters right before killing them off in an explosion[tvtropes.org].
