Because they get killed by good soldiers who use it.
"Soldiers who use the Black Box are unskilled and crutch needed"
"The Black Box is overpowered!"
"I hate fighting against a Soldier who gains up to a max of 20 health even though I have more ammo than they ever will."
"They have no skill."
"They have no skill."
"They have no skill."
"They have no skill."
"Black Box is for people who can't fight."
Those are the common reasons why people hate it. I honestly don't care using it or not. My motto for using any weapon or item in TF2, even if people hate it:
"Whatever gets the job done."
THIS. The only difference, is that I typically use my Shadenfaude when they reach the single digits in HP.
Well, people just hate crutches because their skill or lack of was invalidated or something.
Self proclaimed soldier medics are the best.
I only see the justifiable reason as to why you should use the black box and conch is when you have no medic. I don't see it as crutch as having one rocket is critical for picking medics, two-three rockets to kill the medic and one-two to escape. Your giving up on a essential escape tool or a good 100~ dmg rocket for tanking/survival
anyhow, its just a bad weapon. any half decent soldier should be able to manage their health. all it does is give bad soldiers a way to stay in the fight, while hindering their rocket jumping and damage output skills, and lowering the skill cap and potential of said skills.
