IMO, definitely Root A. It would feel weird watching the characters there scratch their heads in confusion over mysteries whose solution you already saw in Root B.

So I should start with the After route?

Yup, starting with the After route is best. As Kilicool mentioned, route Before answers some mysteries on route After, which makes it best to play in the order of After > Before.

Hey~ So, I bought the Humble Bundle that happened recently pretty much solely because I thought this game looked cool! I already looked up and saw to play Root A first and I absolutely LOVED it!

*Minor Spoilors*

But....it ended in a sorta cliffhanger with lots of mysteries remaining. And now it says I can play Root A again with new options. So now I'm at a loss again. Do I play through Root A again before my first playthrough of Root B, or should I go on to Root B now?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated~

You haven't unlocked any new options for Root A. You just got access to a feature called Answer Mode that allows you to directly select SSS branches, making it easier to find parts you missed.

At this point, I should also tell you that there's a poorly documented feature to instantly jump to the next unread line. Just press R. Don't confuse it with the scene jump feature, which is less practical and can skip unread lines.

I'd suggest using that to try maximizing Kazami, Jun and Ena's favor. This'll allow you to get some scenes that give them further development and foreshadow later parts of the VN. You can tell you got all of a heroine's scenes if you can get one in Chapter 7. Note that you can only get all the scenes for one heroine per run, so you'll have to do three runs to get them all.

In case you managed to avoid it, Root A also has a normal ending that I'd recommend getting. To do so, you have to waste time at least once at some point once Chapter 5 has begun. Pay attention to the yellow branches.

Finally, if you really want to see everything the VN has to offer, you could try getting all the bad endings. None of them are hugely important, but some of them are pretty entertaining. Getting them is pretty starightforward, with exception of three in Chapter 6. If you want to know how to get those, screw up the third blue branch in the scene Cross-examination. If you do that, and your favor for one of the heroines isn't high enough, you'll get one of the three special bad endings. In case the favor for multiple heroines is too low, Kazami's bad ending will take precedence over Ena's and Jun's, and Ena's will also take precedence over Jun's.

@LeNyn Thanks for the quick reply! Questions should probably all be asked before the answers....

This all seems extremely useful to know! Thank you~

I will say I sorta cheated with favor and endings throughout the game. I saved at basically every single choice in the game and tried maximum and minimum values in pretty much every single circumstace that seemed viable. Then ran through the bad (seeming) option before doing the right one. Ended the game using about 97 of the game's 100 saves.... So everyone should have ended with fairly high favor.

After reading your post though, I think I got Kazami's ending, but I'm not entirely sure. I find her after leaving Area N and she's with me through the escape plan through the pipe to the lake and being choked out by Salyu. But she does still snap and attack you with the fire extinguisher right before the end. Whether this is her specific ending or not would be good to know.

And a normal ending? Honestly, I figured that's what I got when the game finished but I got the achievement for the good ending, so I guess not. Just seemed odd for a "good" ending though. The game ended with Natsuhiko waking up and being like "GET UP! THE GAME'S NOT OVER YET!" And then you don't get up and the game ends after an odd cut to what's happening on the surface. If that's not the normal ending then thanks for the heads up because good odds I'd have missed it entirely.

As for bad endings, I mostly had that covered with the whole saving thing I did. I also figured there would be ones for having too low of favor, but it's really nice to know where I have to make the wrong choice to trigger them, so thanks on that. I actually ended the game with only 4 endings remaining, so 3 heroine specific bad endings and the normal ending should have me covered! Thanks for the help~

There are no heroine-specific endings. Just scenes. The overall outcome remains the same.

Also, what you described is the good ending, so you must be missing the normal one.

Gotcha! Fair enough. Thanks for all of the help, and I look forward to finishing the game one and for all~
