It's not. It's an online chatroom with avatars. The "Experience" won't be any different. Anyone who says otherwise just wants to overhype being able to accurately grab a crotch or pet a tail.
Granted I don't have any of the VR controllers, but at the same time if you are just going to use the game as a chat, you can skip a lot of the additional Set up and stuff if you just launch it normally.
Even though you do get a special little experience if you have the headset. Like going on carnival rides or having a more accurate time playing bowling.
No its not the same. Non VR Mode you are basically just a static object that can relay no emotion or sense of presense. Unless you have a particularly interesting voice, its like no one is even there at all. Its like comparing a ballet dancer to a rock.
I have full body tracking. It lets you do about every dance you could possibly think of. I am not an amazing dancer by any means but I can move around my ENTIRE room, fully tracked, dancing. No it is not the same. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought all of this.
Also VR is a very physical, and somewhat intimiate activiity. In that you are using your full body and are standing for hours burning calories. VERY different than sitting on a computer spouting dead memes.
But it's more tiring if you stand up, and even if you sit down, that damn face cover is rubbing the eff out of your forehead and / or eyebrows and for some people, you get a headache and motion sickness if you have classic locomotion.
Non-vr is more suitable for those who wish to play more than 2 hours and use your mic for it.
For all this time, I have only been silly with stupid VR movements and never spoken.
