Are mend metal and soothing cold useful at all?
I've never used either of these skills on any characters. They don't clear status ailments and getting the most out of them requires bunching your characters up which is basically just waving a sign to your enemy saying "wreck us with AoE attacks, please".

they are useful to me... use them in many
fights.....

especially the soothing cold spell...….

guess it depends on the fight though.. may not need one
or the other.

They're probably okay when you can first get them, but they do not scale enough to match the damage enemies do.

depends on situation etc... they can be good kind of what stabbey points out can be a thing though they might still protect against some ccs.

This. In the later part of the game they're not really worth using.

It's decent specially using it before a fight . It can also stop some residual damage. It's not too bad. Not top tier but hey it's aoe

its good, for 1 ap. Enemies not gonna tunnel someone if you use other defensives and it lasts long enough to pay that 1ap + its aoe.

Only good if used for all 4 party members and on topof that with soul mate, otherwise just have everyone learn heart of steel which is a fortify with mend metal effect or try turning everything to oil then oil carapace if got some dedicated support, as for magic armor, have everyone take living armour talent with a bit of life steal or atleast 2 points in necro and that 20% passive life steal will be enough to provide proper heals in later stages of the game aswell 35% of those heals will go into magic armor. Remember that placing a point into a memory slot means less stats into for example int or wits, using too many defensive but too weak and spread out skills will lower the amount of AP to punch enemies, this game is built the way that tis better to punch hard and not take damage insteed of supporting eachother.

tactics is a big picture. almost everything in the game is useful sometimes as a part of an overall strategy for whatever fights. That said, some things are more useful than others. These may be fine below classic difficulty and be too weak on classic+ and they may be more useful if you have summons or allies in a given fight, etc. They are top-off skills, something to do when you have nothing better on a round.
