More than one point in loremaster?
Is there even a point?

You need a specific level of loremaster to identify higher level items. It even tells you what level you need
Hades Sep 19, 2017 @ 12:35pm
Considering pretty much when you hit Act 2 you get items that require Loremaster 2+ to identify items, yeah.

At the same time, all traders can identify an item because of their level 5 loremaster.

Traders charge gold for identifying items that way, but if you really want to save the civic ability points across all the characters you have, Loremaster can be replaced by traders for the purpose of identifying items.

Loremaster -also- tells you information about mobs on examine, level 1 providing their stats/vitality, level 2 providing their resistances (their talents being in either 1 or 2), and 3 providing their status immunities. Beyond that I don't know how it affects examines, but it's certainly not useless to know these things before finding out the hard way, so having someone on hand with Loremaster isn't a bad idea.

Pretty much all civic abilities other than lockpicking and persuasion are useless

Thievery and bartering are quite literally worth their weight in gold

Thievery is actually the BEST civil ability, but weren't you the guy accusing me of cheating yesterday? Guess that proves my point then :D

Yes definatly. You should min-max those traits as such. Put MAX persuasion on your character. Then on your other characters max them out on only one trait each, being bartering, loremaster etc. Only one's you don't REALLY need to bother about is the one that gives you more treasure. Just put points into that if you reach your cap on your main trait.

I never used thievery and I've got enough money to buy everything I want. Just make sure you search around and pick up random plates and stuff as they are light weight and go for hundreds of gold each. Plus high bartering gets you loads more money.

Thievery you get caught like always. Bartering is not enough discount.

Lockpick you can get very good unique gear and persuasion for dialogue for quests.

1) Steal
2) Teleport to ship
3) Sell items
4) ???
5) Profit
And as you said, it also grants lock picking which is REALLY good

Bartering gives you more money for selling, as well as lower prices. It's quite frankly an amazing talent that I wouldn't play without

If you get caught while pickpocketing, you are clearly doing it wrong, hence why you see no point in it, your fault then. Distract patroulling NPCs, then pickpocket. With Thievery you don't need Bartering at all.

Feels like you have to put bartering on your main then cuz switching loot is such a pain in the azz. Also then you can't get persuasion on your main for dialogue.

Everyone seem to dismiss "lucky charm", but it's alo an aweome talent. One of my char has 10 in it (with gear + booze before opening containers) and i'm findin a legendary item evey 8 or so container opened on average. I'm level 10 atm and all my char are 95% decked out in up to date legendary thanks to this talent.

I can attest to that, lucky charm + persuasion are the 2 must-have skills. Lucky charm ended up giving me a huge advantage, what before (lucky charm not picked) had me running around with equipment 5 or 7 levels below my char level, now I had epic and legendary gear in every slot and it often was useful equipment (the stats are, however, still 100% random ,p). Ps.: And yes, boosting it beyond 5 with items can end up giving you legendaries at 10, divine at 15

And all those items result in you never having money problems. ^^

Loremaster ID checks go up to 5 btw.. so unless you wanna spend 5 points on that skill, you should pick a more useful civil skill, since all traders on your ship have loremaster 5 ;p

Can anyone confirm that lucky charm works as a party bonus? Or does it only work on the character that opens the container?
