As for Zaleskar , you don't have to pass any check to progress with Sebille personal quest. In fact , you can beat Act 1 without talking to any single NPC involved in any companion quest and still able to progress . The only downside is that you have to go to Act 2 without any hint of how to progress.
In the event that you are forced to battle and kill Zaleskar , Sebille , is an elf , she can eat his corpse to find out all the info anyway [/spoler]
In my case I was level 4 playing on tactician he had more armor and health then my entire team combined. When I flee, as the pop up sugested, it dropped me at the shrine right next to him and back into combat.... I used a level of cheese so nasty that it belongs in a can, but i was able to beat him without a single death
In my case Sebille was the only one in my group that needed to talk to him, I had no idea that my non grouped characters would need him, i guess they are screwed or I restart and try again.....
And yeah, Ifan uses him on his quests too, and I'd really like to see all the possible dialogue I can.
Might be possible with 2, but not sure.
However, this won't let you help advance Sebille's quest. You'll still have to persuade or kill Zaleskar for that. I found that teleporting him into the valley below made him really easy to pick off after I was able to talk to him with a non-Sebille party member. But at least this way you can talk to Zaleskar and engage in mercantile activities before being forced into persuasion or combat.
Regarding people saying Ifan talks to him instead, this discussion revolves around talking to Zaleskar AFTER the initial Ifan conversation.
