Sebille and Zaleskar question
I was wondering if anyone has actually managed to suceed in the persuasion attempt with him? Since I'm playing as Sebill,e, the game forces me to talk to him first, despite other p[arty memebers needing the same guy for their own personal quests.

Here's te problem, I fail. Haaaaaaard, every time. It results in a fight which will render some broken personal questlines for others afterwards. Yeeah yeah, invest points into persuasion, I know, I'll do so when I start over if needed. But here's the thing:

Zaleskar is lvl 8. I have never left joy at anything above 5 or 6 even after doing everything I could find and killing everything and everyone, so it seems that persuasion attempt is doomed to fail anyway. I don't know if one stat is more prone to succees than others either. If anyone has done it, let me know what your stats were at the time, please and thanks.

You need to invest in Persuasion skill to actually pass the stat check . Having tons of point on the stat and no point in persuasion will fail the check every single time .

As for Zaleskar , you don't have to pass any check to progress with Sebille personal quest. In fact , you can beat Act 1 without talking to any single NPC involved in any companion quest and still able to progress . The only downside is that you have to go to Act 2 without any hint of how to progress.

In the event that you are forced to battle and kill Zaleskar , Sebille , is an elf , she can eat his corpse to find out all the info anyway [/spoler]

I have only past 1 check so far and Zaleskar was not it.

In my case I was level 4 playing on tactician he had more armor and health then my entire team combined. When I flee, as the pop up sugested, it dropped me at the shrine right next to him and back into combat.... I used a level of cheese so nasty that it belongs in a can, but i was able to beat him without a single death

In my case Sebille was the only one in my group that needed to talk to him, I had no idea that my non grouped characters would need him, i guess they are screwed or I restart and try again.....

To be clear, I know I have to put points into persuasion, I was more so interested in how many I needed. From what little information there is on this particualr scenario, It seems that 2 points doesn't cut it. Which suuuucks, guess I'll restart and try to cheese that persuasion skill.

And yeah, Ifan uses him on his quests too, and I'd really like to see all the possible dialogue I can.

Is it important to pursuade him (like does he give any benefits while alive and persuaded) or can one just kill him if one only wants to do the Sebille questline?

If you only want to do Sebille's quest and not the others then I guess the only thing you risk is his barter inventory.

Passed with Persuasion 3.
Might be possible with 2, but not sure.

Is that the guy just at the entrance to the swamp after the fort? I think if you switch to another character and approach him she should just talk to him by herself. You won't hear his dialogue but at least she won't kill him.

Nah, that's only if you did not choose Sebille during character creation. Otherwise it forces you into Sebille's quest conversation regardless of who you're controlling when you approach him

No it doesn't force you. I chose Sebille as my character and when I got to Zaleskar, I picked Ifan and went to talk to Zaleskar. Ifan said something like "I have to do this on my own" to Sebille and you have a choice of letting him or not. I let him talk to Zaleskar and he got a crossbow and returned to me. I don't know how the game forced you to talk to him with Sebille. It doesn't force me to do anything unless I specificaly click on him while controlling Sebille.

I main Sebille, I let Ifan talk to him first and then I saved (just in case) I have her as a blood mage so high intelligence (14) and 2 persuade and passed it with the intelligence option.

I'm replaying now and came across this in a Google search. In case anybody else comes across this thread: while it's true the game forces you to talk to Zaleskar with Sebille, if you take Sebille far enough away (like back into the fort) the game does let you talk to Zaleskar with another party member and you can get info and trigger quests without having to do a persuasion check.

However, this won't let you help advance Sebille's quest. You'll still have to persuade or kill Zaleskar for that. I found that teleporting him into the valley below made him really easy to pick off after I was able to talk to him with a non-Sebille party member. But at least this way you can talk to Zaleskar and engage in mercantile activities before being forced into persuasion or combat.

Regarding people saying Ifan talks to him instead, this discussion revolves around talking to Zaleskar AFTER the initial Ifan conversation.
