Black cat stops following

So I have a problem in Fort Joy and the cat that starts following you there.

It followed me, I managed to keep it alive, but then I changed Red Prince, who was in my party, to Ifan and now the cat only follows Red Prince, who's not in my party, and even when I talk with it it doesn't follow me anymore. What do I do?

I have the pet pal skill so it shouldn't even be that why it's not following me >.>

The cat follows and "inprints" on the FIRST character it sees. In your case it was the Red Prince. It has nothing to do with the pet pal trait.

Cat follows the first char it sees. So I guess this is a bit of a bug - best report it properly.

It is not a bug and working as intended. The first Char it sees will be followed and after the escape only THAT character will get the skill to summon the cat

I don't get why you think that? I own a cat. Or better: The cat owns me. Those little bastards choose YOU, not the other way around. Kinda funny how Larian is showing that in this game. Even though it seems a bit sarcastic and cynical to me.

I think the cat always follows Red Prince actually. It's a bug,

The cat follows your player character if you don't have the Red Prince in the party when you meet it for the first time. It shows up no matter what path you take to the fort and you can't sneak past it. If you try, it spawns, runs near to you then freezes 'til you unstealth and then runs back to you despite the distance. Your choices for the cat skill seem to be restricted to either Red Prince (recruit him first, cat imprints on him) or your player character.

i aliso hate that i can choose the caracter that gets the cat fammiliar skill . It will had been better to give the skill as a book then give it to the character i like or my party leader . But i was exploring with fane and recruted the red prince the cat also see first the red prince in my case too :(

I guess th best workaround is to meet cat first, then recruit the prince. Cause in my case it follows the prince by default.

you seem to be the only one on this thread to have that experience maybe you had the prince selected and it follow the unselected character ? or maybe they finaly fix it

I'm pretty sure I met the cat BEFORE I got the prince, but the cat still followed him when I dismissed him... damn.. wanted my main to have the skill cause I'm not going to use the prince much in my run.. hours ruined

In our game, it first followed my GF (third character in order, first to meet cat) and now it's following the Red Prince (second in order) and it REFUSES to follow anyone else.

It literally switched and now we can't get rid of the red prince, even though we really want to change him out for Ifan.
