The cat (Spoiler about the cat)

i have reached the end of fort joy and when you leave with the cat the character it is following gets the skill to summon it based off the summoning skill problem is it will only follow the red prince and the character i made was a summoner.
i have tried removeing him from the party killing him walking out alone none of it seems to get the cat to go with me has anyone found a way around this?

Ok let's see.

1. Did you walk out of fort joy "controling" red prince or your avatar?

The summoning skill maybe unlocked for who ever you controlled at the moment walking out of fort joy. I used my avatar at that moment and I got the summoning skill for said avatar.

2. At the beginning of the game where you recruited red prince, were you controlling the red prince at that moment when you first meet with the black cat?

This may also explain why it follows the red prince.

Choosing another character when you walk out or boat out of Fort Joy does nothing.

I don't know about #2, but the cat skill will only go to the Red Prince in my party, when I really want it on another character.

This should be fixed.

I thought you need pet pal as a skill and must talk to it first. Simply having it fallow you does nothing. Could be wrong but that was what I read on reddit

Is Pet Pal on The Red Prince? If so, the cat will follow him, iirc.

Yea the cat keeps going with lizard man, really would rather have the skill on my avatar but dont want to start a new game for it.

that shouldn't be the case. on my game i have a custom character and Sebille has pet pal and talked to the cat. however when i left fort joy the cat summon went to my custom character not Sebille.

it has to be something else.

I ran all the way to the start of the island. My co-op partner was the only one with Pet Pal. The cat ran passed her and all the way to the Braccus Rex statue where I was, and would only follow me.

Nope, the Red Prince does not have Pet Pal, another character does, and yet the black cat always goes to the Red Prince.

Funny story, I was chatting to a guard at Fort Joy when my cat friend just spontaneously fell down and died in a bloody heap.

Not sure what happened. Probably a bug.

Same thing happend to me.. pretty sure a guard shot it with a bow.. lol

That guard doesn't like cats. It's actually scripted to happen if you walk near him with the cat. :D

Dammit, I'm playing a conjurer and the cat got killed at the beginning of my playthrough (playing as Ifan, had to do his quest.) Now I just kind of want to start over.

I had the same problem when I kicked Red Prince out of my party. Now he and the cat are sitting on the rock staring at the waves and there's not much I can do...cuz this game has some serious quest bugs in it and this is just one.
