Race choice outside of Elf because Flesh Sacrifice is stupid good and Undead because Undead barely matters from a mechanical standpoint, anyway.
They are really terrible at holding shields.
Oh thats totally change everything! Now elfs at least not at first place as warriors :D
Some abilities/spells just straight up don't work. Onslaught and Daggers drawn only hit one time but with Male Lizards it hits the advertised 5 times. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself.
I am also convinced that there is a bug where the game somehow registers my Female Lizard as a male. People constantly call me "sir" or "lad". I get options of dialogue like "One day my wife and children will....blah blah blah"
Female lizards have consistently buggy animations. The ability "Backlash" on male lizards has them stab forward and instantly teleport to their target but for the females, for some reason they jump up into the air, get stuck for 3 seconds then land with an extremely delayed sound effect.
"All In" doesn't even make a sound for female lizards. The sound file is straight up missing. It's like this for several of their abilities.
Even in a video game women get a raw deal, can you say 77 cents on the dollar
I've yet to notice any other buggy animations that also doesn't effect their male counterparts, like how their tails don't animate and get stuck in T-Pose during certain interaction scenes.
Worth dealing with when you get armor that looks this good, along with the rest of their animations.

While elf are really the best for ranged dps classes.
And undead are just something else entirely, probably the best masochist race in the game.
The warrior lizard combo with 1 pts in pyro to enchant your weapon with fire, use your racial fire breath and then whirlwind ( 4 AP total cost for this combo ) deals more magic damage than physicial damage in AoE. So really good combo when playing with a mage or just to use medusa head next turn to petrify all the mobs.
Lizard are perfect for full physical dmg character which can deal a decent amount of AoE magical dommage without loosing any physical dmg potential.
I only play lizard when i play a warrior now if my party got a mage, it helps them a lot.
Humans bonus are pretty great too, encourage scale with level and can give a decent bonus stats to str / int / dex ( who cares about con ), but only 1 human in your group is needed, or if you want it all time 2 humans are necessary. Still fire breath give way more damage than encourage only it is magic damage.
5% crit / 2 init, is decent but 5% crit without points in scoundrel is equivalent to a 2.5% damage boost and is random.
The initiative bonus is ok for a rogue character.
I really prefer to have more resistance for a warrior than to have 2.5% dmg boost and 2 initiative.
Persuasion is mandatory on one character to get all the extra bonus experience you can have.
So when you first play the game lizard seems bad, i actually though that too, but when you found out that there are spells than can do magic dmg without scaling on int, making full physical character doing decent amount of magic dmg. Lizard becomes really good for that. But mainly work for rogue or warrior since the breath got a small range.
If you play a full physical dmg setup, i would say human is better for warrior otherwise i would go for a lizard all the time.
For shields warriors and mages I would rather a lizard.
Elves have, by far the best racial traits. Custom elves are even better because dome>sebilles lame thing... Sacrifice flesh is OP to give to 1 race. Should be a necro skill IMO. Eating limbs for free skills/xp/quest objectives is also far OP.
Undead, are just neat. I like what they've done there.
Humans are decent supports. Increased initiative = you get to buff you team earlier.
Lizards are awesome too. They are designed for pyro. Demon talent + base 10% fire resist = easy to get above 100% fire resist = fire heals, with how much necro fire you encounter it is nice to heal from it.
Also, the breath is really really good damage for 1ap, pair it with explosive trap (combine pyro/huntsman skills) for really good damage for 2ap.
(if my fireball is hitting 150, my breath/trap are both doing 80-100 for 1ap each... do the math)
10% of fire and poised is super good when you're aiming to get 100% resistance for fire, and necro fire is very common... also, that breath of fire is pretty good IF you know how to use it, (1AP for a fire skill ? that's good, you can combine it with haste and get extra AP for attack next turn). for me, racial bonus are not really affecting my game, i prefer to roleplay as said character. an evil lustful red prince is good for humor
