Any way to escape an encounter can't win
So I had been saving my game and it auto saved in a terrible encounter and my next newest save was 9 hours of game play behind. I think I am done with thr game.

assuming you tried every ability and item you had, suggest just maybe grabbing a mod like cheat for it.

Btw ya make sure to save more often no matter the game, 9 hours is just wowza.

Everybody who plays RPGs learns at some point that you must not rely on autosaves. Sorry that you had to learn it like this. DOS2 is far from the only RPG where you can screw yourself over by not manually saving and/or quicksaving.

Your only real recourse here is probably to figure out some godmode cheat/mod, which I can't really help you out with.

Yes, move like 20 feet away from your enemies, and hit the "Flee" button. Also I suggest learning where the F5 button is on your keyboard, because you should really be using quicksaves.

If it's Alice, he's pretty much screwed. Ten bucks says it's Alice.

If you can lower the difficulty you might be able to fix it. Otherwise cheats would be needed.

I'd bet against you but we both know what usually accompanies this topic. I mean, we've seen that one thread that comes back every few weeks...

Or Aetera, she autosaves at the start of the fight as well and if you don't get first turn and your party isn't spread you're screwed most of the time.

I don't get why you would go for 9 whole hours without saving the game though.

Probably just got to deep into and maybe even used to how vast majority of games these days that have better auto saves.
->
though you should always save manually at some point I mean 9 hours >_> that is for sure crazy.

F5 takes no effort at all, it's on you.

Thanks everyone, it was one of the "arena" encounters and I had no way of just running as there was no way out . My teleport wouldn't work to get out either. I ended up changing the difficulty to story mode and was able to win the fight. Afterwards I changed it back to classic. I learned my lesson and will be saving more.

Also, I was saving the game but apparently I had been saving over the autosave file, and when it went to autosave on its own it overwrote my save file.

Yes, autosaves use the name of the save to recognize themselves. If you save over an autosave or quick save, it'll be overwritten automatically.

And this is why I have auto-save disabled. Manual save early and often.

I mean w/e works for you, but you just have to not save over it.
(though for this game auto save is poorly done and rare any ways).

Also of course quick save is overall quite fine for this game.
(and most others obviously though a select few recommend not relying on due to how it handle long time memory ).

Yeah as others said, this is kind of your fault even tho it's a sucky situation to be in. Cheat engine can give you an unlimited turn that will never end with infinite ap and no cool downs. You can just spam a single skill on the enemy and they'll die eventually. Even if you're lvl 1 lol. Use this to learn to not have to ruin the game for yourself and apply mechanics that every single rpg ever created needs to have to prevent stuff like this.
